Parise is not going to sign here. DW has probably realized this and it's why we're still in the Nash mix.

So can we hope there's a problem at the tanning saloon and DW gets locked inside the building with no cellphone reception until Nash is traded somewhere else?

C'mon guys, that was clearly an either/or list as far as who could be traded for Nash. Any potential deal would not include all three.

Oh, DW will find a way.

From 2,247 miles away, I'm hearing there are no Nash talks between ‪#Sjsharks‬ and CBJ, who still want Couture. No counter-proposal period.

That's OK, even if he doesn't land Nash at some terrible price, I fully expect Doug Wilson to find some way of screwing the team up tomorrow. If only I drank alcohol, I would have something to drown my sorrows in when that happens.

Rumors tend to come from one side or the other. The total package sounds like it is in the ballpark of what Howsom would ask for. The question is whether DW would bite. Look at most rumors as coming from a leak on one side of a trade, not both, and they are easier to digest.

On the Nash deals, it sounds like all the rumors are coming from the CBJ camp whether it is the Sharks, Rags or whomever.

Yep. And its not that you expect DW to say anything about this anyway. So all information will be from the CBJ camp.

I figure DW will do something like

To Columbus:
Pavs
Clowe
Niemi
Demers/Braun... oh the hell with it, both Demers and Braun
goalie prospect

To Vancouver:
17th overall pick (from San Jose)
2nd overall pick (from Columbus)

To Sharks:
Rick Nash
LOLuongo

DW: "I told you *****es I'd get Nash without giving up Couture."

SJ and NJ are about the most airtight on rumors around the league. TO, NYR and CBJ are leaky like sieves. LA, Calg, Philly and Ott have their share of leaks. Better chance for leaks when there is significant press dedicated to covering the team. And leaks are generally in the GM's province. Not that the GMs leak, but how much weight to they bring on their subordinates to keep their lips zipped. Since Jamison started, a tight-lipped policy has always been in place.

I wonder if Nash will get traded tomorrow and to who.

Can anyone see some sort of Rick Nash for Bobby Ryan type trade going down? Is Ryan alone worth Nash or what would the Ducks need to add? I think the only way the Sharks can match that is maybe Logan Couture and a prospect or two (not saying I want them to do that).

I can't wait for draft weekend and July 1st. With a good number of coveted players in play + free agents, this could be the most eventful off-season I've ever experienced in 20 years.

Are you saying this on the basis of the cap or just skill or points or something else? Ryan plays on probably one of the best lines in the game and has a PPG of 0.78 while Nash has that of .811 in arguably one of the worst teams in the league.

I understand that Nash has a really bad cap hit (7.8M) compared to Ryan (5.1M) and is also 3 + years older but curious why exactly you feel Ryan is better than Nash.

I do feel that there is a lot of Nash hate because of his cap hit and the assets that Howson is asking for him but he is definitely a top level player. Arguably better than Ryan.

Ryan doesn't even play with Getzlaf and Perry. When you factor in age, contract, upside it's not even close.

Except when you consider that Nash is valuable in more situations

Ryan spent quite a bit of time playing with Nick Bonino and Andrew Cogliano. And the time he spent with Getz and Perry was at the beginning of the year when those two were playing very poorly. I take Ryan ten times out of ten over Nash not only because he's younger and cheaper, but because he scores so damn much against the Sharks.

He didn't in the 2nd half of this season, but he did in the first half and the seasons prior.

I'd rather have Ryan over Nash too, but it's likely going to cost more to get Ryan. One, the Pacific Division aspect. Two, he's cheaper and he's younger. Three, Anaheim doesn't have to move him.

Rumblings from Pitt: #SJSharks still in discussions for Nash that would inc. Pavelski, Clowe, pick. Market softening with B. Ryan on market

I swear 50% of the Nash argument is about linemates. Would he be better with better teammates? Probably. But so would a lot of people.

I find that whole idea absolutely absurd. EVEN IF he was 'better' with better line mates, why are we giving MORE value for a player that requires other people to perform? I mean, if Joe Thornton makes Nash better, isn't that more about Joe Thornton's value than Nash's?
