Yes it is, thats why anyone who even thinks about trading thornton is a turd!

p.s. I have no clue who I am refering to, but some people want to and its just a horrible idea.

I agree with this... but it's not about line mates exactly. It's about chemistry and sculpting the RIGHT lines. If there was some way to know that so and so would absolutely destroy on a certain line.. then that would be something. However, it's mostly a guess.

I do think they should be trying harder to have an appropriate mix of players on all the lines and to not **** with lines that have great chemistry. I believe chemistry is the main factor to the Sharks not getting over the hump. They had it the president's trophy year but were way to quick to alter the team after one playoff upset. Perhaps if they gave that line a few more stabs at the cup they would've brought one home. Hindsight though.

You mean the Thornton-Cheechoo line? Cheechoo got hurt and couldn't play effectively anymore.

Unless you believe that DW actually offered Clowe, Pavs and a 1st and that at some point in the future CBJ will take such a deal or similar deal.

I think the team has given up trying to recapture the Thornton-Cheechoo magic (pair a superstar with a grinder with goal-scoring skills and hope it clicks).

Why? Because of heatley? They didn't do their homework there, that shouldn't turn them off from a player who actually would click with a good center.

Heatley was slow and not really a dangler. Heck he still scored 39 in the regular season his first year with us. But when you look at heatley he was a guy who always had one of the better centers in the league(spezza) and typically was around 40 goals a year. So when he got 39 that was about right for expectations.
Nash is usually around 35 goals a year but with mediocre centers at best. His plays are often self generated. Heatley didn't always want to do the dirty work along the boards, nash thrives doing the dirty work.

Frankly, if CBJ declined (if it was offered) Pavelski, Clowe, Demers and a 1st round pick for Nash, they are living in cloud cuckoo land. That makes them a better hockey team.

Ottawa Citizen:

The San Jose Sharks appear to be Ottawa’s major competitor for Nash.

They’ve offered Ryane Clowe, Joe Pavelski, Jason Demers, and a first-round choice while the Senators have offered, at the very least, Robin Lehner and Mika Zibanejad.

How the heck are we offering NHL top-6 forwards and Ottawa only offers potential top-6 forwards/goalies?

Thank goodness our first is gone. But Pavs + Clowe + Demers + 1st is horrible. I can't imagine Howsen turning that down.

You can put me - against general board approval - in the "I would like to roll the dice with acquiring Rick Nash" club - but not at that cost. If Scott Howson really is sticking to his "not close" rhetoric and that deal is on the table, I fear for his sanity.

that package is completely out of line. Clowe + Demers + Pick + golie prospect = the most it should cost. You are not gett ing two top six players for nash.

I don't buy it either. DW wouldn't offer that. Its a little odd that those are the same names that were in a tweet speculating about which Sharks players could be involved, all the names. IE its anyone's guess but it could be some combination of these players and the stupid media doesn't know anything about the sharks and is making something up based on Howson's retarded demand for 4-5 pieces. Even Eklund said something about what he's hearing is offered is much less than whats being said.

I think Howson's just a moron and there's no one that can deal with him on this. The guy gave up 3 draft picks for Bobrovsky, so I'm kind of thinking he doesn't actually understand the asset value of players right now. If Bob's worth 3 picks, then obviously Nash is worth multiple top 6 forwards, top prospects and picks.

If we get Nash for a price like that. We are going to become Columbus.

#CBJ GM Scott Howson did not come close to dealing Rick Nash at the NHL Draft. Will now wait for free agency to drive up a market for him.

Asked directly if he is asking too much for Nash, Howson said simply no.

@ESPNChiHawks

Also think Nash will end up in SJ. Guess Dan Boyle could be moved to open up money. Luongo to Tor or Fla still
