How does moving Bolland for Peverley make any sense for either party?

I think Bolland and a 2nd gets it done.

B's likley don't want Emery.

this is where the problem begins. They have Rask, Khudobin and that new swedish signed guy. Thomas is good/great, no doubt. Looking at it, I think there is no way that a team gives them a guy like Bolland.

Not sure what you mean by "a guy like Bolland". Do you have him pegged as more than a solid 3rd line center? IMO that's not a huge price to pay for an elite goalie with 3-4 years left in the tank.

I would probably do it if Lidstrom is playing another 2-3 years. Thomas has got at LEAST two to three years left. He got a late start and doesn't have a lot of mileage on him, that has got to be factored in there somewhere.

I wouldnt trade Bolland alone for Thomas, let alone adding Beach. Emery doesn't matter.

I love Bolland and if he is play, I am curious what the price from the oilers would be

Thomas is way too old for Boston to receive anything significant in return.
At his age you simply don't know if he even has one good year left.

I think it really depends on what you are calling significant. Thomas isn't going to get what he would if he was 28 and had the seasons he had the past 5 years, but I don't think a late first or a couple of prospects or a 2nd line wing with a year left on his contract is out of the question.

How about:

Bolland + Beach + Emery

for

Thomas + Kelly's Rights + Khokhlachev

Any better? (I'm a Stars fan btw, so this is probably pretty bad)

No they don't win you regular season awards, and they something have you scratching your head in the dog days of the regular season...but guys like that win you cups.
So does Tim Thomas and no offense to Bolland, who has been a thorn in our side for years, Thomas ups those chances significantly more than Bolland ever would. The trade may need tweaking to have a centering coming back Chicago's way, they could go fishing in the FA market or even make another trade. Plekanec and Roy both may be available and either would be ideal for Chicago.

While I agree in theory, Thomas seems to be one of those late bloomer types. If memory serves he was in his thirties before finally cracking the NHL on a permanent basis and just last year shattered NHL records in SV% and GAA at the age of 37. I can easily see another three to four years of solid goaltending from him with a distinct possibility him being top ten in at least two of those seasons.

I think it's better to just drop the whole Bolland thing. It makes little sense and it's not like we don't have valuable pieces to trade.

The cost of Thomas?

The original Charter of Rights and Freedoms signed by Obama.

Elite goalies are nearly impossible to aquire. The fact that he's 38 obviously changes this situation a bit, as does the fact that there is a young gun who wants to be starter and has been vocal about it. As well, Thomas has displeased certain segments of Boston fans and Team Management over his antics. (He's a hell of a goalie, but he seems like such a dumb guy).

The other question is, would Thomas thrive as much in Chicago's offensive system as opposed to Boston's smuthering defensive system?

I don't know what the price would be, but it would have to be somewhat significant for such a talent. But nothing that damages Chicago's structure. Maybe a 3rd liner, a backup goalie Chicago doesn't want, and a busted prospect?

I would do that in a heartbeat, but thats just me.

Thomas upgrades this team alot more then Saad will, but again, thats my opinion. I would rather get vets to compliment an already young core.
