Has anyone else drafted a "Franchise" player in Be a GM? I think they're kinda weird. I just drafted one who made my team the year after being drafted. Cam Liffiton is an 84 overall straight out of the draft, but has C potential. I feel like he's not really a franchise player if he's already at C potential at 84. By being an 84 overall he's roughly like the 10th best guy on my team.

I'm trying to get Brodin but he's expensive. I'm lucky (again!) and I found one who was selling a Brodin card for 450 pucks but I placed a 350 bet for now.

As for Granlund, I just can't get one for obvious reason.

My current HUT team is made entirely up of CHL players right now with the only exception being Holtby in goal. My 1st line players are only something like 83, 87, and 84 overall rankings. Each one of them has like 70 CHK and DEF but 99 HND, SHT and SKT to even out their salaries. I plan on using this team for another 80 games at least before selling them. I'll post all the players and crap tomorrow, too tired to do it tonight.

Finally picked up NHL 12 for PS3... I likey

First thing I did was try the HUT which I played with a bunch of scrubs in the Rookie Cup and won the tournament. I bought a pack with my winnings and the "rare" card I got was a Wade Belak (RIP).

Kind of went exploring and thought I would start a player in Be A Pro. Initially started as a Playmaking LW for Saginaw but I only had 2 Assists in 2 games. Got a little frustrated/bored with that so I decided to make a Two-Way Defenseman for Kitchener. I had 1 G and 3A in my first game. The coach is starting me on the 3rd pairing for now but I'm getting a lot of PP time and even some PK time. I think that Be A Pro mode may take up the majority of my attention for the time being.

Does Granlund ever play for the Wild in the NHL 12?

Yeah, he plays with the Wild in be a GM mode.

Also, you can move him from his Finnish team if you want to play him with the Wild in other game modes.

I got one "franchise" drafted player in NHL 11, and the results were very similar to what you presented, except my player was only a 77 OVR with a C potential. He grew to 78 OVR after his rookie year.....

The franchise players almost never end up being worth it. I believe it was 16-17 of NHL12 and I picked up the top 3 picks. Each player had 77-79 overall and was either B or A-.

It also helps to save before the draft. Sim the draft, scroll through everyone contracts on their rookie skates, looking for everyone that has been drafted, make a list of the best potential players and what pick they were at, then you can have a perfect draft. I haven't drafted anyone with a C potential. It's kinda cheating, but whatever, its a ****ing game.

In probably 10-15 be a GM game/franchises that I've gotten to roughly 2017+ in NHL 12, I've only had one 'Franchise'. Straight out of the draft he was an 81, I believe. Had straight As for potential. He had a season of juniors, one in the AHL, and then after two seasons in the NHL he ended up maxing out at around 96 or 97, IIRC.

Also, I just did the 2018 draft in my Pittsburgh Franchise. Here's my roster:

Benn(92) - Malkin(94) - Mack Lemmon(86 b-)
Neal(90) - Huberdeau(88) - Martin Frk(85 b-)
Andreas Pauli(88 b-) - Granlund(87) - Grigorenko(85 b-)
Schwartz(87) - Strome(87 b-) - Austin Watson(84)

Pietrangelo(91) - Gudbranson(92)
Brodin(89 b-) - Beaulieu(88)
Henry Haase(84 b-) - Ryan Murray(84 B)

Fleury(95), Hiller(83)

In the AHL, I have one center, one LW, one RW, one defender, and one goalie all with B potential or better. I had Okposo to an 87, Peter Mueller to 91, Max Pacioretty to 88, Stepan to 91, and Jake Allen(STL Goalie prospect) to 91 before trading them away for various picks over the last few years. I've won four stanley cups(and lost in one final). Detroit, Nashville, and Edmonton have each won a single cup.

Yes, just select the player and press X when he is listed on the roster in grey.

Hmm, doesn't work...

When I press X, it's to sell the card which I don't want to.

Yea, not the brightest AI.

There is almost one player that is old, have a high overall, that isn't signed by the beginning of the year. I always sign them and dish them off at the deadline. Always worth something good.

Yep.

They have recently added RFA and UFA tags in to rosters and trade proposals for players who have a contract year BTW.

I've heard that running the Spring Invitational Tournament in Single Player is a nice way to grind pucks (~600 pucks/game), does anybody have any other tried and true methods?

Okay, I suck at HUT.

Anyway, modified my team a bit:

Setoguchi (90) - Koivu (91) - Latendresse (87)
Semin (88) - Stastny (90) - Mueller (92)
Kobasew (81) - Brodziak (83) - Selšnne (86)
Sailio (73) - Sallinen (75) - Lammassaari (73)

Hannan (84) - Wideman (85)
Penner (78) - Scandella (86)
Holden (78) - Regner (79)

Simpson (85, exhausted)
Machovsky (63)

It's still not great, but it'll do. I don't play much HUT anyway.

Wellman (77) - Phillips (88) - N. Palmieri (82)

Scratch: Sheppard (81), Kassian (76)

Zanon (80) - Babchuk (82)
Scandella (80) - Spurgeon (84)
Cuma (80) - Prosser (77)

Scratch: Wallin (79)

Backstrom (88)
Harding (83)
Hackett (83)
Theo (82)

It's not too bad IMO. Also, I have currently 4800 pucks.
Update...

I lost Koivu, Cuma and Zanon. I'm selling Wallin and some random minor league players.

Christensen (84) is playing 1st line C. I got Duncan Keith (89) and I bought a Stoner (79) card for 300 pucks.

I don't think your puck bonus in NHL 13 is based on how many pucks you have in 12. I'm not sure exactly what it is based on but I heard from a couple people that it's based on your collection size. Once I heard that I've been holding on to all the players I get in packs instead of just tossing them for the extra pucks. I think I've got close to 550 players in my collection right now.

I thought for NHL 12 it was a combination of both pucks and players in your collection for pucks bonus in the following years game. I have been saving on both and have just over 93,000 pucks. In NHL 11 I bought some guys a couple days/weeks before NHL 12 came out just because I didn't think it mattered but won't be doing that before NHL 13.
