Junior players are going to be pretty useless in HUT this year. Unless there really is a good variety of junior/EU tournaments and you actually get matched up againts players who are playing the same tournament. Unlike last year where you got matched up against pretty much anyone even if you had special restrictions.

I agree on the whiffing on one-timers. It's getting really annoying. The only one-timer they won't whiff on every time is the cross creaser.

I've found that I hold the pass button down to long, causing too much power on my passes, and they don't get handled very well. This game is going to take a lot more touch than years past.

I hate that the speed burst is automatic now. They are making too much ease in controls these days. Like putting the dolphin dive into CoD. If you were actually good you could do that, but then they just consolidated it into one button. I don't like it one bit.

Ah for the good ol' days when games took skills, and physics exploits like straferunning, bunny hopping, and trichording required you to press multiple buttons and actually think about where you were going.

I'll play Sonic, you play Dark Souls...

Then we'll compare which game requires more skill.

Won the Pro Tournament in HUT. Only played like two games that whole month so I'm surprised I even qualified for any of the three tourneys. Puck total at 87,000 right now with nothing to spend it on until my contract expires and I make a new team. Then again, NHL 13 comes out in a couple weeks so I doubt I'll play enough to do so anyways.

Okay, get me a copy of Dark Souls, and here's your conditions for Sonic 1: No Deaths, time limit 25 Minutes.

Also I was more comparing CoD and the likes to Doom/Quake/Descent.

Same conditions for you; shouldn't matter because new games require less skill.

I see what you're saying with modern shooters being similar to Doom/Quake. They're essentially the same type of game, just further developed. Doom, Quake and UT type games required more muscle-memory and fast-twitch controls, while I'd argue modern shooters have gone away from speed, and more towards accuracy. Newer shooters still require boatloads of fast-twitch, though - just to a lesser extreme.

Same over-genre, but considering doom and quake were just "find the exit and GTFO" games and CoD and other modern shooters are almost entirely strategic objective base, the way they play is completely different, even if the mechanics are still similar. Further, the movement speed exploits of the past worked because vector addition was not nullified. Pretty much every shooter nowadays gives your character an absolute top speed that's right around the same or just barely above the speed you reach while moving forward and running. Sure it's more accurate as far as emulating real world physics, but it's just boring.

there is nothing wrong with this yet, its when you purchase a large jar so that you don't have to be interrupted by necessary bodily functions while gaming that you might want to consider getting help.

how is the game tho, i've heard people say its a lot of fun, i'm just hesitant to drop money on a MMO given i have tried out about 5 of them in the last 2 years.

Meh, to each their own. I prefer to see what I'm shooting at before I zip past going 300 mph.

I wonder if we could see the HUT spin off as it's own $5-10 game that's "free to play".

Doubt it. A lot of people already spend $5-10 on card packs alone. I wonder how much extra money those greedy ****ers at EA have made on things like HUT packs, boost slots for Be a Pro, etc?

You really don't know what a free to play game is.

And that's where skill comes in: being able to see it, shoot it, and kill it, all while maintaining 300 mph.

From people playing the game already, it looks like Brodin is not in NHL 13 as of today.

Let's hope EA will fix it in their next roster update.
