It was very interesting for what it was trying to do. Very, very unique, and a cool and fresh experience. That said, there were some flaws in the execution; in particular, the voice actors all have really thick "French-guy-trying-to-do-an-American-accent" accents. Also, not really worth replaying.

MS and Sony are pretty obviously wrapping up development to move on to new systems because they had almost nothing for current gen systems.
MS: More Gears of War and Halo is OK, I guess. At least they're trying to make them very different from the existing trilogies, but man it just seems like time for an entirely new series.
Sony: The Last of Us looks pretty awesome. More God of War is just so unappealing at this point.

The new Need for Speed looks like a lot of fun, but I still wish Criterion would hurry up and make another Burnout.

Challenge: Name an interesting game shown at this year's E3 that is not a sequel/franchise.

I came up with The Last of Us and literally nothing else.
The Last of Us
Beyond: Two Souls
Watch_Dogs (am I the only one on the internet who caught the fact there's an underscore there?)
Agni's Philosophy (okay so it's a tech demo, but damn)
ZombiU
LocoCycle

That's probably far more than we should have expected though. Considering how development lags, funding over the 6 to 18 months ago period (probably the most relevant period for this E3) was probably at its lowest in a very long time in the industry. It's hard to get investment capital for anything other than a sure-fire hit, at least insofar as major budget titles are concerned. Couple that with the lifecycle behavior of the PS3 and 360 along with Nintendo's notoriety for being incapable of producing new IP and it shouldn't be anything of a surprise.

Pulling the requirements back a little, you have two new X-Com games, a new Rayman game, the first post-Bungie Halo, an entirely new UFC franchise, new Paper Mario, new Luigi's Mansion, the return of Racoon Mario, a legit Tomb Raider reboot, the second installment in a number of relatively new IPs (such as Dead Island), as well as legitimate entries into cross IP like SouthPark and Nike+.

Microsoft's presser was disappointing. Sony spent way too much time on Wonderbook, but otherwise had a pretty good presentation. EA was bland. I didn't see Konami's. Calling Nintendo's presser a disaster of epic proportions would be dramatically understating how terrible it was. Ubisoft had a fantastic presser though.

Yeah, E3 was a little underwhelming so far, but it has had things to get excited about. As someone who expects Nintendo to show poorly, I wasn't significantly disappointed by the show thus far.

So, this is interesting. I had troubles with my connection last night so I shut down my PS3 which was about 28% done downloading InFamous 2. I woke up 15min ago, put my PS3 on now, continued the download... and it's at 89%. The PS3 has been off the whole time.

I don't even...

So, in HUT in the last few days I've gotten a Lucic, a Heatley, a Colin Wilson and a Matt Dumba. I'm thinking I might try to spin Dumba right after the draft and hope a fan of whatever team drafts him wants him bad.

Did you unplug it? It will still sometimes download in the background.

Saw Planetside 2 on the E3, that looks cool. Too bad I've got a life now though Good times in college with lots of booze and playing for several hours a night.

Rage has been pretty fun. Did another couple hours last night. The vehicle parts are actually somewhat fun. Had been dreading them reading the reviews. Still amazed by the graphics (textures aside). Of course all that creeping around in the buildings gave me some strange dreams.

Well, that's good to know. I'm not complaining, download done, only installing to go now.

Good that you're enjoying Rage. I wouldn't pay for it, though. Next game I'm buying will probably be NHL 13 unless something amazing comes out before that.

I'm actually looking forward to InFamous 2. I've heard of the game, but I have no clue what it's like. Should probably check out a review or two...

The first one should be cheap enough. It's a superhero game that plays like Assassins Creed, but more like a comic book, and you have super powers from lightning. It's fun but repetitive.

Goozex is picking back up, and once I get a couple more games, I'll dump NHL 12, and within the next month or two I'll have a pretty decent collection built up:

- Bulletstorm
- Bioshock
- Batman Arkham Asylum
- Resistance
- FEAR
- Infamous (again)
- Lego Star Wars (again)
- Uncharted 1 & 2

Between that and the PS+ games, should keep me busy a good long time. Not sure if I'll be trading more games, might just hold on to them and start buying cheap greatest hits or used games. Will be easier in the long run.

Also got a huge backlog of PSN games I want to play as well.

That's a good collection. I only have:

- Gran Turismo 5
- NHL 12
- Skyrim
- Motorstorm: Apocalypse (PS+)
- InFamous 2 (PS+)
- Driver (PS1 classics)
- Final Fantasy VIII (PS1 classics)

You got a PS+ subscription right? By default it turns on at 3am (local) and downloads any content you "own" and shuts off when it's done or after a certain time-out period. I have it disabled on my system so I don't really know the specifics.

Dead Island is pretty good, the only flaw I had was that it was surprisingly difficult to get the LAN multiplayer working. That being said, it's heaps of fun. Surprisingly good game, especially if you like some good ol' butchering.

Skyrim... well, what can I say. Once you get into it, it's very, very good way to kill time. I never got 100% into it but I know people who love it. The graphics are stunning though, but I wish the combat would be better.

So, I just bought a Nick Leddy card and I'm now boosting him to 88.

I wouldn't have done it if I didn't have Duncan Keith.

I loved Lego Star Wars. Just so much fun.

Lego Indiana Jones wasn't nearly as fun. Lego Batman is a bit better than Indiana Jones, but still not as good as Star Wars.

Anyone tried the Pirates or Harry Potter ones? Wondering if they are worth picking up (cheap) or just stay away?

The upcoming Lord of the Rings one should be pretty damn cool.

RE5 is one of the two I haven't really played. I got that along with Uncharted 2 for Christmas and haven't gotten around to them yet. I've put about an hour into Uncharted 2 and haven't even launched RE5. I seem to have that problem with games I get as gifts though, just don't have the same attachment as if I'd bought them myself.

And that's what video games should be all about, really.

In a related note, I'm starting to really enjoy Infamous 2. Got my karma down to Outlaw, bolt chain baby! Mass electrocutions FTW.
