Canada-Finland

Canada is playing Finland in an exhibition game on TSN tonight. Hopefully Tukonen will be in the lineup so we can get a read on him.

Lauri is wearing #27. Huge breakaway! Beats Glass (Canadian goalie) up high. Off the iron!

Lauri is looking good. Better speed than I thought.

Announcers say Tukonen is great at driving hard and using the ice. They seem impressed with him.

Well, Canada stomped Finland 6-0. Finland only had 10 shots in the game, I think. Tukonen was pretty good down low and played pretty hard, but he and his team were just dominated by the Canadian squad. Lauri played a lot against Phaneuf and Weber and was roughed up a bit, but he did not back down. Finland played most of the game in their own end so it was hard to get a read on Lauri. The good news is that Tukonen, Nokelainen, etc. are all eligible to play next year at the WJC as '86 birthdays. Maguire said that this year is more or less a write-off for the Finns as they are not expected to challenge for much.
