still significant cap space though
False, right now the Avs are paying 23.5M on there players, with Oreilly, Duchene, EJ, Olver, McGinn, Downie, Mueller as RFA's with value. 4M for Oreilly, 4.5M for Duchene(who might even take less as a home town discount), 5M for EJ, 1.5M for Olver, 2M for Mcginn, 2.5M for downie, and 2M for Mueller. Thats 21.5M added to te 23.5M were currently at, which gives us a total of 45M. With 16 players signed. Avs will hopfully resign McClement and probably at around 2.5M so thats 47.5M, and at that point we'll have this:

McGinn - Stastny -?????
Landeskog - Oreilly - Downie
Mueller - Duchene - Hejduk
Olver - McClement - Kobasew

????? - EJ
Hejda - Gaunce/Barrie/Elliott
Obyrne - Gaunce/Barrie/Elliott/??????

Basically, the Avs will need a Top Pairing Dman(aka Suter/Garrison/I dunno) or a Top line/Top 6 Winger(Aka Parise/Semin/Doan/etc.) and maybe another Depth Dman, although at this point I think at least 1 of Barrie/Elliott will be up next year, and Gaunce IMO is more than ready for a bottom pairing role, so maybe we dont even need another Depth Dman.

So, the Avs will have either 16.8M(if the cap stays were it is now), 17.5M(If cap moves to 65M) or 21.5M(If cap moves to 69M) to sign 2 players and 1 guy to sit in the press box.

Basically, if the cap were to move to 69M for next year, the Avs could, if they wanted to offer the maximum to both Suter and Parise of 10M and STILL be under the cap.

So yea the Avs have the advantage over EVERY other team in the league as far as Cap space goes, because they will very likely have the most, by a good 4-5M.

I take no credit for this, just thought it humorous.

What's misleading about it? There's a "?" at the end.

I'm sure I'm missing some.

If it gets down to crunch time, and these guys want to test the market, what do they garner?
why wouldyou trade so much fo just his rights?
