Rangers/Ducks (Major Proposal)

As unrealistic as it may be, I'm just curious to hear if this cluster of a trade is fair or not:

Rangers get:

LW Bobby Ryan
D Cam Fowler
G Igor Bobkov
C Nick Bonino

Ducks get:

D Michael Del Zotto
D Dan Girardi
LW/C Brandon Dubinsky
RW Mike Rupp

I doubt the Rangers go for it.

Surely you kid.

That's a substantial overpayment by the Ducks.

If Ryan goes to NYC, you have to think that Stepan / Krieder + comes back.

Rangers decline, but more because they don't deal from the top 4 D

I could see them moving 1 of those top 4... but not 2 of them, even if they're getting 1 back.

I don't see ANA seeing that as enough.

But NYR had too good a year to give up Girardi and Del Zotto, also Dubinsky had an off year, but fits NY's style perfectly

Not enough going back to Anaheim considering they're giving up the 2 better players in the deal (Ryan and Fowler). Girardi and Dubi are good pieces together that could land Ryan (huge emphasis on 'could') but it'll take a gross overpayment to land Fowler.

No way the Ducks do it.

What if we removed Del Zotto and Fowler?

I'd pick Girardi over Fowler every time. He's so underrated it's actually unfair considering he plays in a huge market.

Rangers don't do it. They can't trade away Girardi.

I dont see how this would make the Ducks a better team. It kills our chances of building our second line around someone who can anchor it. It leaves us with Dubinsky being our best forward signed past next year. We also trade our youngest defender and our youngest top 6 forward.

I just dont think it makes us good enough to take a chance with all those factors.

MDZ > Fowler
Girardi & Dubinsky > Ryan
Rupp ?????>=<???? Bonino, Bobkov - really who cares...

The Rangers down grade defensively...they have similar potential, but MDZ is more polished at the moment.

Girardi & Dubinsky easily = Ryan...mainly bc of Girardi. I don't think I'd trade Girardi straight up for Ryan. Girardi is crucial to our success. Heck, he played almost 1/2 50% of our total minutes played all year.

Ducks don't touch this.

Edit: Why is it that Ranger fans always compare MDZ and Fowler? No one that has watched both of them play would consider them similar players.

I don't think a team that made the ECF should make such serious changes.

you obviously have never dealt w/NYR fan after we lost to NJD; half our board wants to blow up team; changes will be made, they inevitably happen, but our core 4 D, Girardi, McD, DZ, Staal should not be touched.

I know it was a year after but the Flyers made it to the Finals and traded away their franchise players. Stranger things have happened.

Absolutely ridiculous.

MDZ and Fowler are both young. They have both had solid seasons since entering the league. They are both extremely talented and filled with potential. Both teams consider them practically untouchable. If anything, MDZ=Fowler.

Bobby Ryan is worth more than Girardi and Dubinsky. If you disagree, you are being a homer.

This deal definitely does not work for Anaheim, and I don't see why New York does it either.

Edit: I also don't get the comparison between MDZ and Fowler. I think DZ is an example of a player having tools, but lacking the smarts to take full advantage of them.

Anaheim says yes if you include Madison Square Garden.

Value is terrible.

I can't tell quite for sure who loses this one, but somehow I think they both do. NYR loses too much on D, and Anaheim overpays.
