Never, ever, ever bring up Kessel in a Boston thread. Just don't do it.

I love Lucic but hes not Rick Nash and in a vacuum you'd be adding to get Hall.

You are aware that that would put him into the 5-5.5 million dollar per year range, right? Lucic isn't exactly on a sweetheart deal.

Lucic has 5 NHL seasons to Nash's 9. At this point even if Lucic starts scoring more often he still couldn't match Nash's consistent goalscoring records.

And it might surprise you to know that Nash has historically been among our best penalty killers. Hitch taught him how to play two-way and he's reasonably decent at it, but on the PK he does well enough that there have been times when we've had more goals on the PK than we've had on the PP. One of the many reasons we're all pissed at Scott Arniel is that Arniel inexplicably and petulantly refused to play Nash on the PK because he was supposedly worried about too much ice time for our superstar.

No, sorry. It's still a ludicrous position to take.

5 mill per year for what Lucic brings is better than 7.8 mill for what Nash brings to the table. And we still have at least another year with him at 4 mill. That 3 million dollar difference is not worth the 5-10 goal difference, especially when physicality and playoff experience are factored in.

A premier power forward good for ~30 goals each season and ~60 points, as well as being one of the best hitters and fighters in the league for 4m, (5m next year,) is a whole lot better than 8m for a 30 goal scorer. For 6 years. In fact, Lucic's contract is very fair. And he's only 23, he's got another 3 years before he hits his prime.

He's not exactly on a bad deal either; that's not the point I was making. The point remains that suggesting that Nash-for-Lucic straight up is a fair and reasonable deal is asinine.

Kulemin + Schenn is the most I would do from a Leafs POV.

Last year in the playoffs Lucic wasn't much against the habs either.

Habs would have to find out what an overpayment is for Lucic, and then over pay on an overpayment.

Nobody said it was fair and reasonable. I simply said it was a lot closer than people would believe. You are the one blowing everything out of proportion. Figured you would be gone by now though, considering you lost faith in the human race.

No way in hell does a team trade an elite player for Lucic.

Is it? I never once said Lucic was elite .I said people seem very high on Lucic if that's the case I want a elite player in return.

The guy you quoted didn't say Lucic was elite, and your only response was that he wasn't.

Yes, I agree, but it's not that far. No one wants Nash because you all demand the world for him. No team is truly desperate for him, obviously the world isn't going to be given up for him.
