Probably in the short term. It might not be bad long-term.

Why? There are still some really good prospects left in Gaunce, Girgensons, Ceci ect..

I Am never a fan of moving back.

If Girgensons chose Kelowna, this would be a layup pick. Still, I think they'd choose Girgensons over Gaunce.

I went with Gaunce.

The North American & CHL bias flipped it for me.

I am just not a fan of him going the NCAA route

I like how Gaunce has already shown to be a PPG player on one of the worst offensive teams in the OHL while being regarded as a top defensive foward.

If Faksa is available at 11 we aren't getting him. I don't think there's a chance the Caps pass on him, and they won't trade us their pick.

We'd have to move into ten or higher to have a shot at Faksa (unless a Grigorenko free-fall does indeed occur).

If thats how the board plays out...

Draft Wilson(replace Kassian) and trade for Staal.

Gives you CoHo-Ennis-Staal down the middle then make a run at Stoll during FA.

Then take the NSH 1st and parlay into a Roster player or trade down and add 2 2nd Rounders then which would give you 4 2nd Rounders and use a later pick to move up with CGY's 2nd Rounder and snag Samuelsson.

Caps have Johansen as there 2nd line center, they don't really need Faksa. They most likely take best defenseman available with that pick.

Eh? If anything showed this year, it was how much they missed Backstrom when he was hurt. They have no reason to focus on defense as a positional need -- they'll go BPA.

You may be able to land Wilson at 21.

MoJo played a lot of wing this year, too. That's why guys like Beagle were getting pretty big minutes at center in some playoff games. I think if Faksa is on the board, they'll snag him.

I'm not as weary as some are in regards to Girgensons going the NCAA route. It may take him a while longer to join the team, but with four picks in the top 45 of the draft, I think that gives them the flexibility to grab a player going that route or a project.

I was speaking more from management's perspective. If Zemgus was going to Kelowna I don't think they'd even blink; they'd pick him and leave him to Gellert's watch for the next two seasons. I think taking the NCAA route may give them some pause. I will be happy if we select him, though, and I prefer him to Gaunce.

True. I also think the Jets will take him as well. All they really have in top 6 centers is Little who is a natural winger.

Don't forget Burmistrov and Scheifele, their 2011 1st rounder. They also have Ivan Telegin, who is a pretty good prospect and can play center or wing. Winnipeg is one of the few teams I think one can safely assume will be picking a defenseman.

Girgensons.

I would consider Ceci on value, then perhaps deal Pysyk for help up front. But right now I like Girgensons here.

The only things I know about Girgensons and Gaunce is the information I've read on this site, and from what I've read, Girgensons would be the way to go.
