Dadonov to Traktor (KHL)

F Dadonov may sign with Traktor Chelyabinsk in KHL. Other clubs want to sign him as well.

It's disappointing, although the Canes will retain his rights. I thought he might get a one-way deal to entice him to stay when the deal was made, but given we never saw him in Raleigh this season I doubt a one-way deal was coming.

With 11 forwards under contract for 2012-13 and Welsh, Boychuk, Dalpe, Samson, and Blanchard among those fighting for one of the remaining spots, I can see why Dadonov might not see a chance to play in Raleigh next year either.

I thought it was odd that he didn't even see a shift with the Canes. Clearly the brass was not impressed with his performance in Charlotte.

Let all the prospects go the KHL route if that's what they desire. When they start ripping it up, it's not that hard to entice them back. If they never do rip it up, they probably weren't going to do it here anyways.

Yeah, I agree. Plus in Dadonov's case, can't say I really blame the kid.

Option 1: stay in the US and play another year in the AHL hoping to get a chance to improve enough and take one of the few NHL slots available while making $70,000 per year, or Option 2: go to your home country, play in the KHL to try and improve your game while probably getting paid more.

One thing all this departure is doing is really opening up some slots in Charlotte for some guys to step up. Perhaps a guy like Rask might find his way onto that club now instead of back in the Dub.
