I get all these european prospects mixed up sometimes. was it glazachev who said he wouldn't come to NA unless he was guaranteed a spot on the preds roster?

Nah, that was Soin and Setzinger. Glazachev is the diver.

my bad. now when you say "diver" you mean a "diver" like forsberg or ribiero?

Yeah. He was so notorious for diving that THN, in their couple sentence blurb on Glazachev, reserved one sentence for his diving prowess.

I won't knock the pick too much just because I thought we should have taken O'Sullivan. I thought it was obvious to anyone with a brain that we should have taken O'Sullivan over Shea Weber. I mean, Weber, who the hell is he? He's not in THN's top 60 or so. What a waste of a pick. At least there was consensus that Glazachev was a top pick (THN had him at #14). It was a reach but with 4 picks in the top 50 and 8 in the top 100, we could afford to take the gamble. It hasn't paid off, but that's what happens.

I think the Brown pick at 89 was worse than Glazachev, IMO.

at least brown is on the radar in some way. Glazachev is hardly even mentioned. It seems like they've already given up on him.

Yeah, but a lot of people thought Glazachev had the ability to be something special. He had a major upside and he had the scoring ability that we lacked. We took him because of this. It was high risk and it didn't pan out.

We took Brown in large part because of what Upshall said. We don't need a player like him, with his attitude. It just didn't make as much sense as the Glazachev pick.

Weber had the hit of the night.

Absolutely crunched a Swiss player. Was the loudest the boards shook all night.

He got a minor for charging. He left his feet.

He still blaster the guy though. Made me do one of these, ewwwwwwwwww.

it's quiet on here....way too quiet...people that watched the canadian-swiss junior exhibition had a few more good things to say on weber's play...phaneuf actually scored the first goal, but consensus seemed to be weber played the best defensive game...and had the most devestating hit

USA Junior team beat Germany last night in another exhibition 5-3....our boy,the team captain,Suter scored the first goal again...his second in two games

you know..it's awfully early to be saying this with any sense of certainty of course..but i'm going to say it anyway....defensively,we are going to be something else 3 years from now...just thinking about a top 2 defensive line pairings of hamhuis-suter and then weber-klein...with a veteran pairing of eaton-zidlicky left over....it might just be me thinking this, but this potentially will be the best defensive corps in the nhl in 2006-07 season and beyond....man,makes my mouth water to think about it

What I laughed about the hit was Phaneuf was following the play and he heard a loud bang behind him, he looked in a shocked manner behind him to see Weber and the Swiss player on the ice!

It was a great hit and will make every Euro think before coming into the Canadian blue line.

I agree P303. I've said it from the beginning - the 2003 draft was our best draft to date, and Suter is the best player we have drafted so far. I think a Suter/Hamhuis tandem will lead us to the playoffs year after year......and a Weber/Klein duo will continually pound opponents into the boards.

Its quite exciting to see these guys develop

OK... so maybe if I actually went to the Preds homepage and looked at the full story on the WJHC...

ESPN2’s Preliminary Round Schedule (all times are Central):

Sat., Dec. 25 USA vs. Russia 7:30 p.m.

Mon., Dec. 27 USA vs. Switzerland 8:00 p.m.

Wed., Dec. 29 USA vs. Belarus 8:30 p.m. (tape-delayed)

As part of its unprecedented World Junior Championship coverage, ESPN2 will televise all U.S. games leading to the gold-medal game and a U.S. appearance in the gold-medal game would be televised by ESPN.

the sad thing is that across the country, there'll be a big number of people that turn it on and wonder, "what the hell is this? isn't there some poker or a strong-man competition they could show?!"
