Also you have no 13th forward or 7th defenseman hmm?

like that really happens in real life right as injuries do happen you know that right

Looks like then I have no use for Flood or Bourdon

I have the same question. If they make it to the ECF I will call BS.

FORWARDS
Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m)

Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)
Dale Weise ($0.675m) / Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Victor Oreskovich ($0.600m)
Quinton Howden ($1.070m)

Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m)
Erik Gudbranson ($3.200m) / Alexander Edler ($3.250m)
Keith Ballard ($4.200m) / Sami Salo ($1.250m)
Marc-Andre Gragnani ($0.675m) / Andrew Alberts ($1.225m)
Chris Tanev ($0.900m) /
GOALTENDERS
Cory Schneider ($4.200m)
Eddie Lack ($0.900m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,315,000; BONUSES: $2,500,000
CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $7,985,000

Top Prospects:
Quinton Howden
Henrik Samuelsson
Chris Tanev
M.A. Gragnani
Jordan Schroeder
Nicklas Jensen
Kevin Connauton
Yann Sauve
Anton Rodin

By trading Luongo for Howden/Gudbranson, I simultaneously freed cap space while further solidifying my defence. I also feel it was a smart move to let underachieving RFA Mason Raymond leave in exchange for a 1st and 3rd round pick from Chicago.

In addition, one big advantage this team has over the Wings is not only for the current year, but for the future. I still have nearly 8 million in cap space, meaning I'll be able to potentially re-up Burrows, Higgins, and Lapierre while gaining extra cap space from the Malhotra contract running out to pick up a big name free agent. The Wings, however, will implode with Filpulla, Clearly, Howard, and White, at the minimum, needing new contracts. I also maintained a nice cache of prospects including Howden, Samuelsson, Jensen, Tanev, and Schroeder.

Vote Vancouver.

How does your cap space have an advantage over my team this year? I am obviously pushing my team for a stanley cup. You cannot make judgements as to what my team's future is. Comparing potential signings in the present is like comparing Edmonton to Dallas, Edmonton is eventually going to be an all-star team, but right now, they are at the bottom of the league.

so very true detroit. Canucks, having more cap space now puts you nowhere closer to a cup this year

FORWARDS $40.055m
Jason Spezza ($7.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk "C" ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m)
Jiri Hudler ($2.8m) / Henrik Zetterberg "A"($6.083m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m)
Colin Greening ($0.817m) / Colin Wilson ($2.3m) / Cal Clutterbuck ($1.400m)
Raffi Torres ($1.75m) / Andrew Cogliano ($2.3m) / Chris Neil ($2.000m)
DEFENSEMEN $23.215m
Erik Karlsson ($9m) / Nicklas Lidstrom "A"($6.2m)
Ian White ($2.875m) / Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m)
Jared Cowen ($1.265m) / Brendan Smith ($0.875m)
Filip Kuba ($0.9m)
GOALTENDERS $3.12m
Jimmy Howard ($2.250m)
Robin Lehner ($0.870m)

Total: $67.29m
Cap space: $0.01m

Lines Average Points Per Game Total Points Hits
Forwards 1st 0.913 207
Forwards 2nd 0.757 185
Forwards 3rd 0.44 99 520
Forwards 4th 0.347 60 487
Defence 1st 0.725 112 101
Defence 2nd 0.43 68 182
Defence 3rd 0.355 24 234

1st line: Elite
2nd line: Above average
Bottom 6: Hands down THE best in the league, 4 physical wingers, with Neil having the 6th in the amount of hits league wide and Clutterbuck being the 3rd, that produces solid numbers

1st D-pair: Elite, unparalleled offensive abilities. Karlsson produced more points than ANY of your players except for Henrik, and Karlsson is only 22
2nd D-pair: Shutdown D
3rd D-pair: 2 great prospects with Cowen being a big, physical player

Although the Canucks have a great roster, there are many players that are on the downhill side of their career. The Sedin twins are getting older, and one can only suspect that their performance, while still above average, are declining. The Canucks are often known as a one line + goalie team, and with the moves you made, this is still true.

Another thing that the Canucks are weak at is the physical aspects of the game. Because of this, the Canucks are also known NOT to be a playoff team.

For RFA signings if the team decides not to match the offer then they receive draft picks in compensation correct? If this is the case how the **** did the Spezza trade go through? Detroit offer sheeted Erik Karlsson for $8+ mil which means they lose their NEXT 4 1st round picks, and in the trade with Ottawa, Detroit traded their 2013 1st which they DIDN'T have!!!

if compensation consists of more than a pick in the same round, the signing team have the ability to compensate in the (amount of picks) + 1 year. Ex. if a team owns 4 first round picks, they can provide those 4 picks in the next five years

That seems stupid. "Im gonna pay this guy a ridiculous salary and you get absolutely nothing the first 2 season." I have never heard of this stipulation and have checked, can you provide a link?

Here's the ruling "When a Club owes two (2) or more draft selections in the same round, the signing Club does not elect the years in which such selections shall be awarded to the Prior Club; rather, the selections next available will be transferred to the Prior Club (i.e., a Club that owes two (2) selections has them available in the next two (2) drafts –that is when they are transferred)." this says that the signing team (you) does NOT select the year. To make an offer sheet the picks have to be available for the next draft (which is 2013) so if they don't match the offer sheet that HAS to go to them.

it doesn't matter, the intent of the deal between me and detroit is that he receives karlsson plus whatever for the 5 first round pick plus whatever. we were both under a misinterpretation of the rule, but its fine because we still get what we thought we were getting.
