What we found a #1 goalie somewhere? Ah, Florida got better goaltending....yes I can see how that's good news.

I for one would definitely be getting a Brodeur jersey, too good to pass up.

No. We aren't using our assets for a 10 year, 55.6 mill contract for a 33 year old elite goalie, who at max might play for 4-5 years. However the pieces we might part with may play for the next 7-8 years or even more.

Reimer and Scriven or whoever comes in that is't hauling in a 55.6 million contract.

Our goalies will also breathe a sigh of relief since our present coach also knows how to play defense and preaches that. So will their Save Percent & G.A.A

Oh If I were to guess pieces. Jvr, Colborne, and more since Macarthur and Franson is hated about with the canucks.

JVR? He wouldn't be part of no LOSEongo deal

Exactly. Florida just got a top goalie and we still have Reimer and Scrivens. Hello early golf!

Yes so giving up 4+ likely years of playoff hockey for mediocre goaltending is a good thing? He has a 10 year contract, but would be free to move to the AHL if he became invaluable to the team. Trading a first and a prospect/roster player isn't very much for a few almost guaranteed years of hockey in Toronto.

Going into next season with Reimer and Scrivens is a huge gamble that Burke can't take at this point in the rebuild/retool/whatever this is now. Us missing out on Luongo is nothing short of disappointing. I don't know what people are expecting from our current goaltenders because they played terribly in Carlyle's system last year.

Hopefully Burke can get someone because if not we're in trouble.

If the speculation is true, I for one would be extatic. Louongo is an elite regular season goalie with an elite ego. Not to mention I've never been a fan of committing 10+ years to one goaltender, let alone any player who hasn't proved he's worth it.

Personally if this goes down, I hope Burke focuses on getting Theodore out of FLA. would be a bargain and take pressure off Reimer or Scrivens. Although the medical staff would have to stock up on the propetia LOL.

Tell me do you want 4-5 years of playoff by a good goalie only? Or Do you want to build a core that performs and consistently makes the playoffs? If it takes it a bit longer than the usual, then so be it. I rather wait patiently and get the right player and the right age and keep moving forward.

It maybe a gamble but it's a gamble that has a coach that preaches defense, and I can't stress how much that matter. It will drastically help our situation, and while always having a defensive core that looks good on paper might actually be good on the ice now. Don't you think the goalies will thrive from that sort of a situation? You already saw the different game our team was playing at the end of the season, imagine a freshly re-charged team?
