Toronto-Detroit

To Toronto: Ian White

To Detroit: John-Michael Liles

I feel these two are pretty even value wise and I like Liles but White is the only ex-Leaf I actually miss and would want back.

How does it look?

White is on the better contract and is right handed. The only Wings d-man depending on July 1 that currently has that attribute. Never been a big Liles fan either, but not a huge fan of this trade even if the value is probably close to right.

Value might be close, but I didn't like White that much even when we had him the first time.

I would say no.

Doesn't really make any sense why either team would do it, and there is 0% chance that Liles is traded right now. He just extended, and did so at a discount to stay in Toronto. We aren't Philly.

Fair deal, but I can't see how it makes either team better? Exchanging an average D for an average D?

You can keep Liles, why would Detroit want him?

We don't trade for smurfs, especially those we've already had. We trade for Americans. No deal.

Seriously, fair value but seems like a pointless trade, if anything Liles is better for his off ice contributions to the community and his size advantage however limited, at least for us. I doubt either team could be bothered to do the trade.

Dont want White. Liles was fantastic for the first 34 games before he got injured, after an offseason with training and conditioning he'll be back to that form.

It's not an uprade for the Red Wings. White is coming off of a pretty good year, he's right-handed (something the Wings need), and he's 3 years younger. White is also $1m cheaper.

No, there is no chance were trading Liles and especially not for a down-grade. Liles is a very effecient player of our core at the moment and if we let go off him, then we would be stuck with no real puck carrier or mobility on our back-end. Trust me, if u asked the same proposal prior to Liles's injury, u would get an immediate no from majority of our fan-base.

Contrary to that, Liles will be fully healthy by next season and prove his worth as a key part of our d-core.

what on earth...no. I love white but we need liles as he really helped our PP.. People are throwing Liles under the bus due to him post concussion, but pre-concussion he was one of the most reliable Defensemen.

Value is there and probably in Detroit's favor, but it doesn't make sense from a needs stand point.

From Toronto the Wings would only have interest in Kessel, Lupul, Grabovski, Kulemon, JVR, Gunnarson and Gardiner. None of those players would come with a reasonable price or one that makes sense to the Wings.

People need to realize this was the guy who QB a powerplay pre concussion and had us in the top 5 PP. He brings so much to the table if he returns healthy and I hope he does not just to help Toronto but to get all of you to shut up about trading him.

I'd prefer to keep White, he cost cheaper + he's our only RH defensemen.

I don't like John-Michael Liles as a player. He's not the type of player that would make Babcock happy.

White has an amazing contract, way underpaid, and is only 28. just nearing his prime and has more upside to his game. White scores some HUGE goals and puts up nice points.

John-Michael Liles is an small injury prone player (and nearing the end of his prime and he's only 5'10 and like 180ibs soaking wet. White is only 5'11 but plays like he's 6'2.

Liles is a vet, great leadership for the young d-core, don't need White, already had him, like a sloppy ex girlfriend, you're done with them, then move to the next one.

Nah, let's just wait and see how White does when he's not playing with one of the best d-men of all-time!

Big White fan. But there's no reason for us to do that. It's a wash at best.

And really??? Wouldn't want to see Steen back??? Guy is so underrated in StL.

This makes no sense for either team. So both likely pass.

At most we'll give the Wings a 7th Round Pick for the rights to White's stache.
