I missed the playoffs last season by a fair margin, and my team is mid-aged, but with no real stars/potential to move into a top 3 spot next season.
My biggest asset is Henrik Lundqvist, my only star, and is a goalie heavy keeper league.
I have an offer kicking on the table.. just talks.. but I think the package would put me in a better position in the next couple years since I won't be winning any championships tomorrow (or I think going forward without making a move).
I'd be getting,
1st overall pick (Yakupov)
5th rd pick (59th)
7th rd pick (94th)
This would leave me with,
as my goalies,
but give me a solid forward/defensive core going forward.
It would also give me the 1st, 9th and 13th overall picks for my rebuild.
My players of note:
James van Riemsdyk
25 man NHL
25 man AHL
15 man Junior
and THOSE are the only players of note.
are some others.
Thoughts? Worth moving Lundqvist now for the future? Or do I stand pat for now.. hold onto my franchise goalie.. and hope for the best going forward?
I'd pull the trigger, you're getting way too much thrown your way to turn it down. You have a couple stop gap guys in net which means you're fine if needed, but I'd pull the trigger and then immediately start looking for a younger starter. Too much to turn down though.
