Gally also said he loved to go to Montreal a month ago, keep your heads and hearts to your chest.
Galchenyuk has never spent any time in Montreal. He says he'd love to come here, but acknowledges where he lands is out of his hands. "Those things I can't really control. I did what I had to do -- I came back. It's not on me any more."
worst case: Above 3 and yakapov are picked and we are forced to take Ryan Murray
In the 2nd case i think I would be okay trading our 1st pick, presumably Murray, after the 4th pick is decided on the draft floor, for someone elses 1st round pick + a player--- i say this because i think drafting a D man wouldn't make sense for the Leafs and i also think that not drafting the best-possible-player close to that range of picks also wouldn't make sense... most of those players from 5-8 will probably be D and I dont think it makes sense picking a C just for the sake of it when the pick is worth more to us in a trade because of other teams demand for a defenseman... it really comes down to if we take a guy like Radek Faksa, a big strong center, which is what we need and want at #5 instead of a D man and lose value in our pick or take Murray a suitable pick at #5 which im happy with but would it make sense on our long list of D man? I think if a trade is made for this pick it has to be made on the draft floor Burke iam sure would agree! (or i hope so)
Drafting a Dman would make plenty of sense. Our defense is terrible. We could use a stud. That being said, I'd like to see what we could do (in situation 2) to trade our 1st and second for Washington's two firsts. Getting a player like Gaunce/Faksa as well as a defender like Reinhart/Ceci might be worthwhile for us.
Of course, I'd prefer to just draft Galchenyuk or Grigorenko.
I'm drooling at the thought of drafting this player. His injury might be just the 'break' we need to help him slip right to our pick.
Do not even hesitate! If Burke passes on him I'll friggin' lose it.
He's got star potential written all over him, don't let the injury season fool you!
Ridiculous hands and vision, coupled with an NHL shot that's hard and accurate. But also possess the two-way game and competitiveness that is rare from a centre that offensively skilled. Plus he is a real gym rat and works on his game and his body as well as anyone. This is a player you invest in!
Also has the size and strength to shield the pick and fill out nicely. Draft him!!
Ryan Murray is the 1B in this draft imo. If this kid falls to 5th and Toronto is able to draft him take it and run. It's not often you can draft a guy who's given the 1st overall pick a run for his money and your team is able to draft him at the 5th spot.
I don't expect Murray to be on the board at 5 but if he is oh man would that be a huge break for Toronto imo. I honestly cant believe that people would consider trading the pick if Murray was still on the board. This team is in no position to pass on elite talent, if the Leafs trade the pick I hope it's for an established player mid 20's that can make an impact not a pick around 11 and 16 for a player. It just adds more depth to the farm system when the team needs a top end prospect not more of the same.
