Oduya sucks, this was predictable and horrible. Probably akes us out of the Suter race too, go grab your pitch forks, we have a GM we need to run out of town.

Bowden said its less than his previous. We will see.

I feel there is going to be some big backlash. But IMO the opinion should be halted until the cap hit is announced. And a subsequent deal for hjalmarsson. .

@hawkeypucks: RT @CSNBoden: My understanding is Oduya took cut from $3.5 million salary he had in exchange for multiple yrs (3) #Blackhawks

IMO this move is just a replacement for hjalmarsson. Which is good because hjalmarsson has become one dimensional.

You can read Bowman like a book. He said the roster was great during his presser and he's bringing them all back for another Cup run.

What dimension does Oduya bring to the table?

More offense, speed.

Just enough shotblocking. Not enough hitting though.

If there was any way to make the news of resigning Oduya even worse, it would be that he is going to replace Hjalmarsson and Hjalmarsson is gone for who knows what, probably another 1st round pick. So yeah, based on that I think your prediction is spot on.

What about him coughing up the puck all the time and playing scared of getting hit, that's ok?

While I would have loved to sign Suter like the rest of you but I don't think we were ever in the Suter race. Oduya took less money to stay hear and if it is $3 million or less I am ok with it. I love how people loved him when he got here and was playing great but now you hate him and want his head on a platter. He is a solid 4.5-5 dman and with the cap where it is he is getting paid for just that. Just like Bolland is getting paid like a 3rd line center.

So for a team that plays poor defense, trading away a pretty good defensive defenseman and replacing him with an offensive defenseman is a good thing? Oduya sucks. He isn't even good offensively.

Oduya isn't an offensive D-man at all. He's a soft defensive D-man prone to turnovers. What you see is what you get.
