I have a hunch that both Suter and Parise may end up in Detroit.

today they were interviewing Glen Sather on Centre Ice (XM) and he mentioned he was very happy with his team culture, coaching, and compete level. Glen said his team left it all on the ice and there was no complaining when the season ended even though 14 of the players needed to visit the doctor [B]. Now I am not sure how many are hurt badly but that number is pretty alarming. I think that tells you what kind of toll the playoffs can take on a team especially one that blocks so many shots and grinds out the wins the hard way.

I know people are panicking a bit about the shot blocking style of the Rangers being a model other teams will copy but I just don't see that happening "en masse"........it’s just away to high a price to pay day in day out especially in the regular season.

Vokoun was traded to Pittsburgh for a 7th round pick and was due become a UFA July 1st, but has already signed a 2 year, 4 million dollar contract with the Pens. Solid no. 2 behind Fleury. Good move by the Pens.

I dont understand why so many thought him going too Washington was a slam dunk!

He hasnt won anywhere he has been he has played decent in his career but never was a difference maker

Changed my post there as I didn't know he had signed an extension. And I thought Vokoun wasn't very good this past season, don't know what I was thinking there thinking he was "unexpectedly bad". He wasn't as good as expected but his numbers weren't too bad.

I like this move by Pittsburgh to because it shows they're doing what it takes to (in their eyes) make an upgrade, pay the price, and get a what would have been soon-to-be UFA signed to a new 2 year deal. It's aggressive, and I like that. Of course, they're a contender, so the urgency is there to make a deal like this when they see a piece they want.

Many believe around the boards here that Fleury will be moved. I honestly don't believe that at all. Anyone else? I just can't see Pittsburgh dealing him.

I just don't understand why Vokoun is signing all these small contracts. Even after his terrible year last year he could have gotten some decent money and a starter role.

I guess he really is just concerned with getting his name on the cup.

As for trading Fleury I really don't see it. He's a great tender and still relatively young. It would have to be one hell of a return and besides that fact Pitt has good depth everywhere on the ice. They'd just be making a hole at the goaltending position.

I dont see Fleury going anywhere, it seems just like a move to have a commendable backup for if/when Fleury implodes again. Brent Johnson wasn't the guy for that.

Good move.

I guess this kinda fits here, an article from Forbes about how the Stanley Cup winner could potentially file for bankruptcy right after the finals, how only 33% of teams make money and how a work stoppage could really cripple the NHL:

Link is here

I know some of this is posturing before the real negotiations start but I wonder how much different this new CBA will have to be? As frightened as I am that there will be another work stoppage I am very interested in following this. The league needs to get healthier and it has to start with the players.

Total domination all playoffs......maybe the greatest run of the modern era given how even this league is now.

I work nights this summer so I have been watching them taped so I have to avoid the boards alot of times (sometimes watch them after work 5-7am, sometimes before work 2-4pm)...and I kind of been avoiding posting here about it for a couple of reasons, one of which is definately it's hard to believe just how good the Kings have been, and as a long-time Kings fan I have learned that when something appears to be too good to be true, it's not true . Until Dustin Brown is hoisting that Stanley Cup, I will not believe it I don't think. I think I am calling in sick on wednesday...

Habs (re)hire head coach Michel Therrien as head coach. Even though the roster is different than when he was there before, I'm just not a big fan of re-hiring head coaches. I went through it with Carolina when Maurice was brought back, and I pretty well had to talk myself into accepting it, then when things go poorly it's just all the more frustrating. The feeling of "been here, done this, spinning our wheels" is extremely tiresome.

Maybe it works out for them, I have my doubts though.

I don't like it either. But when you have a dumb **** policy requiring the HC/GM to speak french you have a small pool to select from.

The negative for the Pens in signing Vokoun is that it may impact Fleury's confidence. Fleury's maturity level has always seemed a little low. He gets rattled very easily. Having a veteran who can actually play the game (unlike Johnson, who was probably the league's worst backup) will mean Bylsma won't think twice before pulling Fleury in a bad game.

Yea me too......it's a buzz kill! Good on the Devils for not giving up. Henrique made a nice shot for the win and the rookie is very clutch. three years in the system developing after he was drafted and then has a great rookie year starting as a top 6 forward out of the gates and now they have him until he is a 27 year old before he is a UFA.

I definatley was hoping the Kings would close it out on home ice but those are the breaks.
