Sorry, Guerz, but to me this smacks of someone who loves the Canes really wanting it to happen.

I know that when something positive may potentially happen with the Jets I will infer anything and use any tidbit to support the chance of it happening. It's human nature. (Kinda like me thinking that Jordan might sign here )
I can see how it may appear that way, but honestly it isn't. My heart and attention is nowhere near the Carolina Hurricanes, infact I did not watch a single Canes game this past season. Emotionally, my ties have honestly been cut from the Hurricanes, to the point where I wish for them to actually lose and/or not make the playoffs. If the Jets don't make the playoffs I surely don't want them too. Natural feeling, I guess, I really can't explain it.

I've just been following it all and as of right now it truly does appear that Jordan wants to play in Carolina with Eric. Too much smoke here for me to not believe it.

Like I have said multiple times, it may or may not happen, but I won't be the guy surprised if it does. At the end of the day I could honestly care less if Jordan ends up in Carolina. It's just my hunch and things I am hearing that make me believe (not hope) he will.

The Yandle rumor doesn't make sense to me. Didn't he just sign an extension last summer? Why would he be shopped only six months later at the deadline?

Not only Whitney but Captain "The refs are out to get me!" Doan as well.

He has said he won't re-sign unless the ownership issues have been resolved by July 1st and as someone who has continued to follow the Coyotes ownership saga, I can assure you there's no way in hell that happens.

It's because of Ekman-Larsson's meteoric rise.

The team could shed salary by dealing Yandle and OEL can easily replace him. In the eyes of Phoenix fans.

I'd freakin love to have Yandle. Although acquiring him would be slightly redundant, I think it would push this team over the edge. We'd have one of the most productive backends in the sport.

Appears to be slow moving on the Rick Nash trade front. Wonder when he'll finally get dealt? Same goes for Bobby Ryan.

As for the Pens/Jordan Staal fiasco,

Quote:
Rob Rossi ‏@RobRossi_Trib
Hearing #Canes feel Staal is theirs sooner or later, now less willing to blow away #pens in trade talks #StaalWatch
Quote:
Mark Spector Sports ‏@SportsnetSpec
Carolina is now likely to use No. 8 pick, not trade as planned. Can't get J.Staal now? Then stock assets for when you can. #SNDraft
Quote:
Rob Rossi ‏@RobRossi_Trib
A growing consensus here today believes #pens concerned that Staal value now considerably less than previously hoped. #StaalWatch
I can't wait to see where some of these players get dealt, not to mention when. Seems though that these deals may not get resolved today. We'll see.

I think the same can be said for Ryan, Nash, JVR, and Staal in that the team's aren't in a HUGE rush to deal them. They could be dealt through the season if need be.

Tim Thomas has waived NMC. Would have expired on July 1. Teams near cap floor have inquired.
Wat.

Edit: wasn't really paying attention to the second half of the tweet haha, I guess it would be just to take on the cap space.

According to Dreger, the Senators are the only team remaining in the Rick Nash sweepstakes.

Also the Rangers are interested in Keith Yandle.

Wow, the Sens really want to take the next step as soon as next year.

They have a good team, and Alfie really only has a year or two left.

You have to think that Zibanejad + is the starting point.

If they give up a bit of their future, and add Nash without taking away too much of what they have today, they could be a serious contender next year. Interesting.

But columbus would want regular NHL players too, perhaps a Machalek or foligno, and other prospects.

Interesting. TML fans should be losing their minds right about now, that Sens might land Nash and Burke can't.

Wow. Dan Maloney sounds really bitter in this interview. Something is up on the Yotes front.

Quote:
Maloney said he doesn't believe Doan will sign before the ownership situation is settled.

"I don't blame him. We're all optimistic. If you're Shane Doan, would you sign?" said Maloney, before going into an impression of Doan: 'I'm signing for where? And what language do I have to speak?'

"He wants to be back," said Maloney, "but he wants to be back in Phoenix."

This can't boast well for the Yotes future in Arizona.

All this tells me is that Shane Doan wants to stay in Phoenix, no matter what. The quip about which language alludes to the potential move to Quebec. That's all it tells me and that's all you should take out of it.

Matt Duchene resigns with the Avs. 2 year deal for $7 million. Not a bad cap hit of $3.5 million.

Is Kane comparable? Last year Duchene was injured and had an off year, but before they were similar. Even if we gave Kane more, like 2 or 3 years at 4 million I would be thrilled. 2 or 3 years keeps him an RFA when it expires too.
