Absolutely ****ing pumped for this card. Favorite fighter (Cain) is on it, JDS vs Mir should be a great one, I'm a big fan of Big Country, plus Brandao, Mayhem Miller, and Hardy are all on the undercard. Going to be an absolute doozie. Also, I'm picking Mir. I think he gets this to the ground and takes a limb home with him.

I don't think Mir has much of a chance in this fight. I think JDS gets the knockout in the first.

He was signed when Dunham pulled out with an injury.

I can't see how Frank can survive for more than a minute, let alone get Junior to the mat. This could be brutal.

Really the only way I see it going Mir's way is if he gets knocked down and JDS dives into his guard ala what Big Nog did, but JDS isn't going to be foolish after seeing what happened to him. That said, anything can happen.

So amped for this card.

I think you're selling Mir short to say he has no shot ... Kongo and Hardonk don't have JDS's power but I think they're more versatile, dynamic strikers and he completely walked through both of them. I like Bigfoot Silva's game a lot but I can't think of a worse welcome wagon than Cain; it is possible though that Werdum / Fedor happens again, that Cain jumps into Bigfoot's guard and gets caught. Bigfoot's guard isn't as good as Werdum's, but it's really good.

Struve's last 3 losses -- Travis Browne, Roy Nelson and JDS -- were all to big punchers, and Johnson is a bigger puncher than the first two ... don't see how Struve survives this one. If any of you aren't familiar with Glover Teixiera, dude used to train hands with Liddell and he absolutely throws bombs. Can't wait for that one either.

Mir over dos Santos
Cain over Bigfoot
Nelson over Herman
del Rosario over Miocic
Johnson over Struve
Brandao over Elkins
Barboza over Varner
Mayhem over CB Dollaway
Hardy over Ludwig
Sass over Volkmann
Glover over Kingsbury
Brown over Pineda

I'm really looking forward to the Del Rosario vs Miocic fight also, it's very rare to see 2 of the divisions better prospects face off so early in their UFC careers.

Tough first fight back for del rosario after a ling layoff.

Alright, had a good card last time just picking who I like better. We'll see this time. It's nice to pick fights for a card and not have to check the fightfinder to see who half the undercard is. Great, great depth on this card. The FX/Facebook card is better than the card earlier this week.

Main card:
Heavyweight Championship bout: Junior dos Santos (c) vs. Frank Mir - Obviously a dumb pick. Watching the pre-fight stuff, I just don't see how Mir can hang with JDS on the feet at all. He is remarkably slower and wilts when he gets caught. I also think JDS is better on the ground than people think. So, I don't really know how Mir will win. I'll have him getting some sort of lucky choke to win, I guess.

Heavyweight bout: Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva - The only reservation about this fight is just the horrible head movement Cain has shown in the past. If he gets blasted with one of Silva's shots he could go down again. He's a lot slicker than Bigfoot though, and should be able to cruise to a decision if not a TKO finish.

Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman - This could be a fairly lackluster 3 round fight.

Heavyweight bout: Stipe Miočić vs. Shane del Rosario - Odd fight. Would've rather seen one guy against Nelson and one guy against Herman so they each get steps up in competition. del Rosario has been out for awhile, so I think Miocic can take it.

Heavyweight bout: Stefan Struve vs. Lavar Johnson - Lavar has looked great in the UFC, but those who have seen him before know that it's unlikely to last. Struve will probably get blasted early, but should be able to grab a limb in a scramble and get a sub.

Preliminary card (FX):
Featherweight bout: Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins - Really like Brandao, and I think this is a good fight for him. There's always a chance Elkins works from top position and grinds out a boring decision.

Lightweight bout: Edson Barboza vs. Jamie Varner - Varner hasn't looked great in awhile. He does have a good all-around game though, so Barboza will have to be careful. I predict Varner gets caught with at least one low blow from a kick and whines about it excessively.

Middleweight bout: Jason Miller vs. C.B. Dollaway - I actually think this is a fairly even fight. I could easily see Dollaway grinding out a decision.

Welterweight bout: Dan Hardy vs. Duane Ludwig - I'm just a Hardy fan, so I'm hoping he can get a win and stick around.

Preliminary card (Facebook):
Lightweight bout: Jacob Volkmann vs. Paul Sass - Very intriguing fight. Volkmann has basically laid and prayed his way to great run at 155. However, if there's a guy you dont want to lay and pray on it's Paul Sass. I like Sass to lock in a sub or at least get multiple sub attempts and win the fight.

Light Heavyweight bout: Kyle Kingsbury vs. Glover Teixeira - I like both of these guys as fighters. Kingsbury just looked shockingly bad against Bonnar.

Featherweight bout: Mike Brown vs. Daniel Pineda

In what way are Kongo or Antoni Hardonk "more versatile and dynamic" than JdS? Hardonk got dropped repeatedly by Eddie Sanchez of all people (in addition to getting ruined by Kongo and Pat Barry), while Kongo has been badly exposed any time he's fought someone with decent striking. It's selling JdS short to say that he has much in common with either of those guys. I'd never say that Mir has no chance, but given his track record against hard hitters (and not-so hard hitters -- heck, Big Nog almost TKO'd him last fight) he's rightfully a big underdog in this one.

Main card:
Heavyweight Championship bout: Junior dos Santos (c) vs. Frank Mir - JDS is but better than Mir, plain and simple. Mir wilts when he gets hit, did it against Lesnar, Carwin, and Nog before he pulled the sub off.

Heavyweight bout: Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva - Only way I see Bigfoot winning is if he can tag Cain clean. If not, tko or decision for Cain.

Heavyweight bout: Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman - Ehhh, Nelson.

Heavyweight bout: Stipe Miočić vs. Shane del Rosario - I have to pick the kid from Ohio for obvious reasons.

Heavyweight bout: Stefan Struve vs. Lavar Johnson - Going with the upset here. Lavar is going to tag Struve early and put him away before Struve has a chance to pull this to the ground.

Preliminary card (FX):
Featherweight bout: Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins - Brandao has the potential to be a star in the 145 division, sub win.

Lightweight bout: Edson Barboza vs. Jamie Varner - Varner is varner, plain and simple.

Middleweight bout: Jason Miller vs. C.B. Dollaway - Could go either way, Miller is a better fighter in my mind though.

Welterweight bout: Dan Hardy vs. Duane Ludwig - I love to watch Hardy fight and he's one of my favs.

Preliminary card (Facebook):
Lightweight bout: Jacob Volkmann vs. Paul Sass
Light Heavyweight bout: Kyle Kingsbury vs. Glover Teixeira
Featherweight bout: Mike Brown vs. Daniel Pineda

Not interested in this card at all. I like Cain and JDS, but heavyweights are so boring to watch. At least I'll get to see Mir get his face smashed in. That'll be nice.

Not saying Kongo can out-strike JdS, saying I've actually seen Kongo and Hardonk throw kicks and elbows and knees in fights, while dos Santos is essentially a 2-point striker. If I sat down and thought about it I might prove myself wrong, but waltzing your way through 2 big strikers (Big Nog, Nelson) and 2 "complete" ones (Cro Cop and Kongo) at least suggests you have the wherewithal to deal with a one-dimensional destroyer.

Dos Santos can't do to Mir what Brock did, and I don't think he's strong enough to muscle him around the way Carwin did. Now I don't recommend Mir get into a dirty boxing match with Cigano, but his first 3 losses are ancient history and Cigano can't replicate his last 2. You could argue that Mir's last 9 opponents (all the way back to Vera, who at least was really technical) were big, big strikers, and I don't think Mir has ever gotten jacked on his feet. Nobody can stand up to Cigano's punching power, so saying Mir got rocked here or there just means he's mortal, not that he has a weak chin. Rightfully a big underdog, but he's arguably the best heavyweight in UFC history and he's still just 32. Can't wait for this one.
