Apparently it would also spell Schultz to Vancouver.

Booth trade (correct)
Hogdson trade (correct)
Perry trade (apparently fell apart after the BOS game)
Pahlsson to VAN at TDL

Once again I would like to clarify it's a rumour and could easily amount to absolutely nothing.

That's not happening. Burke isn't a ******.

If he didn't move Gards for Nash, what makes people think he'll do it for Luongo?

appreciate the canucks fans coming here and saying what they are hearing
if we did the same to Boston about Kaberle I'm sure many would think the same thing
i don't think its fair to say they are delusional

as for the rumors, as most leafs fans i wouldn't include 5th or Gardiner alone for Luongo, maybe a package around Schenn but then I'd still want something coming back with Luongo

Luongo is a big risk IMO, this market has a bad history with 'saviors' and if lu is already soured on media it could turn ugly quick

If Luongo is traded to the Leafs, especially with his horrendous contract, Vancouver will have to give us a sweetheart deal and take some of our cap eating players, like Komisarek, Lombardi or Connolly, there is no way they will be getting our 1st or Gardiner.

I don't see Luongo going anywhere but staying in Vancouver, he is their problem and I doubt there will be any takers.

Sidney Crosby

It's become readily apparent from all the other Jordan Staal thread's that he's clearly one of the most important fixtures of the Pens lineup, so much so, that I'd assume even if he were to be traded (which he wouldn't) the asking price would be so high as to make such a trade actually harmfull for the team receiving him. So to try to find a new venue for these trade talks I propose this: Clearly Malkin is the best player in the league atm, even Ovechkin said so, and Staal is obviously option 1b, so this makes Sidney the odd man out. Even discounting his several severe concussions, his game seems to have slowed a step since the golden goal in Vancouver. He seems to be easily able to be put off his game by even the slightest disturbance, the Flyers series was case and point. And his lofty contract is very unappealing. By doing this trade the Pens unload arguably the weakest of their top 3 centres, and in return get a proven 30 goal winger on a VERY managable contract, the captain of one of AHL's best teams who can instantly step in and fill the 4th line centre roll for Pittsburgh and a first round pick which virtually assures the Pens the ability to draft in the top 10 next season, since the Hurricanes will be eliminated in early February. This is the prototypical win//win trade. Pens get to replace one ailing player with two better options at reduced cap hits and at the same positions while also adding a 30 goal winger in the proceess (who's younger than most of their current wingers as well), while the Hurricanes get a marketable name they can use to help sell tickets and jerseys.

A lot of speculation about Luongo. I hope the names are just thrown in there because I think giving a 5th overall, Schenn and Gardiner would be way too much for that contract when you can get Vokoun for cash for 1 or 2 years. That's all the time you need. Scrivens, Reimer or Owuya (who many think will be the best if the bunch) will take the net by then.

No thanks Vancouver. I don't think Burke is that high on Luongo anyway.

I agree completely and I also think if Burke can't get a deal done for a veteran Goal Tender, he may try a Reimer/Scrivens combo.

honestly if it comes down even one of Gardiner or 5th just sign a ****ing vet goalie for free
this team still needs a year or two to really figure out who is core and who isn't

I'm not a Luongo fan but I wouldn't be too upset if he came to Toronto. It does fill a desperate need.

That said, Gardiner, Schenn and the 5th? If even a single one of those pieces is moved for Luongo, I will punch Burke. In the face. With a chair. Unless of course we're getting something good back with Luongo.

The Leafs would have to be stupid to give up two of their best young defenseman and completely gut the D core in the process along with a 5th overall pick for a goalie on a decent cap hit but exceptionally long contract who is having issues.

The best that I would be comfortable giving straight up for Loungo is a salary dump for salary dump type trade with maybe a lower pick or prospect headed Vancouver's way.

I'd much rather go for a Vokoun type for a year or two and accept the decrease in skill in exchange for not being stuck with Luongo for that long. Shelters a developing Reimer who Burke has said he still has confidence in.

I think it would be funny if Burke unloaded his best young assets for a 33 year old goaltender with an atrocious contract.

Would be similar to how there was no end of defense for Rotten Ronnie until Burke deep sixed him.

Some people are on total crack if they think Gardiner, let alone the #5 pick WITH Schenn, are going for Luongo.

Major ****ing crack.

Sure one of those pieces, meh ok makes a bit more sense value wise but it won't happen. Gardiner is valued incredibly high and the #5 is well, a #5 pick.

Schenn lost a bit of value bit is still valued as the next captain by Burke.

The 5th+Gardiner+Schenn isn't a rumor. It's just what Tim and Sid were speculating.

Can't see us giving Vancouver anything of value especially when Vokoun can be had for nothing but money. I'll take Bob Mac's word that we're not interested in Luo.

Kesler, Ballard and Luongo, 1st. rounder pick
for
Komisarek, Armstrong, Connolly, 5th., Schenn and Gardiner.

Isn't completely horrible though.

Okay, Edler.

People believe what they want to believe. Just a case of that, and nothing else.

I don't think even Leafs fans were ever this excited about a baseless rumor, and we're known as the crazy bunch

Good thing my left toe nail (which happens to be a hang-nail) has more hockey knowledge than "tim and sid".

If grig, gal and forsberg are all gone at #5, do you keep the pick and draft Murray and then trade Schenn/Gardiner for help at C or would you rather trade the #5 pick for help up front?

It's kinda like being RikRolled by Canuck fans. I hope they continue to take these guesses by media seriously. It might bring them down to earth when they get Colby Armstrong and Cody Franson.

I am still wondering if a possibility of adding a guy like Kesler is possible along with that trade...or even schroeder(guy was touted as top 10 talent but dropped due to size, decent in the AHL)
