Hammer is as "bad" as Demers. Stalberg is a 3rd liner with a career year. Bolland is a third line center. So we're trading a second liner and a bottom pairing dman for a bottom pairing dman and two third liners. I can play this game too.

Don't forget we lose almost $3 million in cap space here and this makes it a no-brainer for the Sharks.

Don't want Bolland. Don't want any Centers.

Yup. Need wingers that can skate and have decent hands.

They're also giving you a 3rd round pick. Are you enticed now?

What? Demers had a crap year this season. Sure. Last year he's shown he can be a #3 at least, so he's not a throw in. And as much as we would like picks, I wouldn't trade him for a 3rd. Besides, when your partner is Colin White whenever you play, of course you'd struggle because you'd have to cover White's defensive gaffes as well as cover your own.

Bolland+Stalberg+Hjalmarsson for Pavelski

I think it's been said before:
Pavelski---->Bolland Downgrade
Stalberg would be nice, but not for Pavelski, even when packaged.
Demers----->Hjalmarsson Doesn't fit our needs for a LHD puck mover. Arguably better in that department than Vlasic, but that's not saying a whole lot.

Doesn't help us.

Stalberg for Niemi is a good foundation for a deal, I feel. Would need to figure out the particulars to make it work for both teams but that's a good basis for both teams.

I don't think the Hawks would do this unless we were taking back Crawford/Emery. If we take back Emery, then they would have $6.5M tied up in mediocre goaltending. I think the whole point of getting rid of Niemi is to shed some cap space and let the younger goaltenders take the reigns; couldn't really do that by taking back Crawford.

Having Niemi/Crawford was what it was supposed to be and I have no issue with the 6.5M going to those two guys. You have two solid guys and one will likely step up and have a pretty nice year. Plus, their styles are so different, and I like having that contrast. We can see who works better with our D.

I'd much rather trade a pick for Niemi but if it gets Emery out of here, **** it, I'm in.

Because the point of (hypothetically) trading Niemi would be to give the young guys (Greiss and Stalock) the opportunity to play as a tandem.

I don't really think so. There are plenty of places that the Hawks could move Emery to because there are a lot of teams that could use a backup at his salary range. Columbus, Florida, Minnesota, New Jersey, Islanders, Rangers, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, and Winnipeg will all be looking at backup goaltending in some fashion. At his salary range, he's certainly movable. Crawford may be a little tougher to move because he's not really a backup, not paid like a backup, and there are fewer starting spots than there are backup spots.
