Brandon Prust and Chris Kelly on the market. Chris Kelly would be awesome, great work ethic.

Read something that Kelly wants a substantial raise.

As for Prust I got the impression he'd stay in NYR?

@DarrenDreger: Flames hire coach and prepare for heavy lifting in days ahead. Iginla trade rumours will heat up. Bouwmeester on the block?

I think Prust will want to go to a contender and Kelly will go to where the money is at. I am a fan of Kelly's play.

Yes the cap hit may not be pretty, but the term would be acceptable and fit in with our long term salary needs while providing short term help and size to the blueline.

Like I said you're not going to get someone for a reasonable rate, it's just a matter of maybe controlling what you can (like term).
Allen is not getting that much on the UFA market, that is way over payment and over term.

Lucic solves some LW depth, let Smyth go play somewhere else and Hamilton helps the rebuild and is NHL ready.

Done deal.
They are not going to move Rask or Hamilton, BOS is very high on both of them. I would go after Krejci, 1st and something else for the 1st. That would give us our 2nd line centreman, draft Samuelsson and then something else added to that.

I would do Lucic and Hamilton, but I'm sure Boston wouldn't. Lucic gives us depth on the left side and brings a big body presence that we sorely lack, Hamilton gives us a blue chip defensive prospect, something we sorely lack. Sign me up.

I cannot believe some of the trade proposals in this thread for 1st overall. Kinda strange if you ask me.

Don't ask!

You have to overpay on the UFA market to get any established player really.
I can't see a GM being that crazy, I know there are a lot of bad contracts given out on 1 July but Penner will get 3 mil I would say.

Exactly. This or a similar trade has been raised time and again. I would be flabbergasted if Chiarelli traded for Yakupov. I would even be surprised if he was actively shopping Thomas.

Why? because he produces acouple more point than gagner on a stacked B's team?

He's 1 inch taller and 15 pounds lighter than gagner.

Skates a HELL of alot better though. I like what Lucic brings, but I find he's really overrated. He's a good player, but not a game breaker, and I find he's treated that way a bit too much.

Why the hell would he do that? He's in his mid 30s, didn't he want the stability of long term deal?

Maybe he's been on HF too much and he's all butt hurt

Replace Belanger with a UFA. Send him to Columbus for a 7th.

Does anyone still think "Garfield" has any credibility?

Sure, as much credibility as my Cat, by the way her name is Belle. She positively assures me that the Oilers will make the playoffs this year.

Would much rather keep Belanger and trade/buyout Horcoff.

Good for him. He needs to go somewhere where he'll get more PP time.
