Toronto - Devils

To Toronto: Henrik Tallinder

To New Jersey: Colby Armstrong & 2012 3rd round pick

Thoughts?

I tried to make it more even for both teams as people said my previous proposals were lop sided.

Post a counter proposal if you don't like mine.

What is wrong with you? We have a billion d-men and you want to trade for another one?

You don't think our back end needs a revamping? I do...

We need to bring in some different faces on our back end next season, as they did not play that well this past season.

Tallinder is a dependable shutdown defenseman, he shuts down the top scorers on the other team usually. So I thought since Carlyle usually likes having a shutdown line on forward he might also want D men he can put out on the ice with them to shutdown the opposing teams scoring lines, or scorers.

Just another thing to note, you technically can never have too many D men. And Tallinder has enough overall ability to play in our top 6, so it is not like I am trading for some depth defenceman.

I don't see the incentive for New Jersey here at all.

I think this is the third thread where the OP has tried to get rid of Armstrong. Im getting the feeling hes not his biggest fan. I dont know why the devils would want him though.

My best guess would be his 3 million dollar contract of his, but I dont know if thats why.

I would say it is a system and coaching that needed to be fixed. Maybe Carlyle can do that. The defense has hung the goalies out to dry sometimes. Leaf fans are so quick to get on their goalies, while their defense isn't really that good.

Lets see what we have already first before we make changes with a new coach who puts emphasis on defensive play. With the possible addition of Schultz we are overloaded as is.

I don't mind Armstrong, I like the game he plays...throws big hits, fights a little, and agitates. But he is obviously overpaid at 3 million. So yes I would like to get rid of his contract but if we don't then that is fine. I am definitely not a fan of Lombardi & Connolly, but I wouldn't be upset if we kept Armstrong for our 3rd line as I like how he plays the game.

Oh alright, I just checked back to the draft standings and you are correct, the list I checked is messed up then. Said we still had the 3rd round pick this year...

Well the 3rd round pick was not a for sure, I am kind of leaving it up to others as to what they want to add as a plus on top of Armstrong, so a pick/prospect etc.

There are only 6 d-men...there is no bottom after 6 unless you include the rare extra 7th d-man dressed or the press box. I don't even think Tallinder is dressing for the devils in the playoffs. If he can't make their d-corps, no way in hell he cracks ours.
