I actually think Sykora's ability to pick corners would lead to some production against a goalie like Quick. But whatever.

This made me laugh! Can't blame anyone for not watching WWE though.

Who do we scratch though? Poni maybe?

He isn't playing horrible, and he hasn't been a guy to rack up goals, and points for years now but I can't justify splitting the 4th line, and scratching one of them. They were the all stars of the Rangers series! I think Sykie would play great if we put him back in. Remember when he was demoted to the 4th line, and then started scoring almost every game in the last 2 weeks of the season? I want him in the lineup. Maybe try it over, and jump start Patty too. Remember they had droughts as a line during the season too.

So do I.

Wouldnt mind playing a well-rested Sykora for one game and giving someone 4 days rest.

Same thing as Larsson in for Harrold, Fayne, or Greene for 1 game to give a guy 4 days rest. Wouldnt bother me a bit.

To be honest I avoided all press from yesterday game, I watched all of the game.

once Kopitar scored I went downstairs and drank more beers.

but the more I realized at it, the Devs have had their chances which they'd won the game, same ways as the Kings, except they were more oppurtinist.

I haven't given on this team, I was so pissed off after the 1st period/2nd period the way they played, til they got some pressure on aka 5mins left in 2nd period. Then they scored...

then their forecheck continued throughout the 3rd, throughout the OT and I thought at that time for the Kings dominating us for 2 periods it was even, well leaving Kopitar alone vs Brodeur is the same to leaving Kovy all alone vs Quick.

I was mad but hey, we lost 1st game series vs the Flyers,Rangers. Let's win this one for the great Devils fans that are there... You guys in NJ deserve so much more from getting ''bullied'' from Rangers fans/Flyers fans from all the **** throughout the years. I go board to board, and only one that's bitter is Rangers ofc.. Saying fans doesn't deserve Stanley Cup finals... Well it's been like 9years, since the Devs made it to the cup, 4years since the Rangers debacle with Avery '' ahl minor retiring vs Clarkson', debacle and 1994 ECF.

and they dare to say we don't deserve the SCF

**** em. What they don't deserve is respect, never seen such a franchise with their fans chanting ''Marty'' for years til we finally chant ''Henrik'' so on.

I've been avoiding it like the plague since last night. Someone needs to bring some sanity in there but it sure as hell won't be me.

No kidding. The Devils do just as much clutch and grab as any other teams. Sometimes more. The crap starts as soon as the playoffs start and ALL the teams do it (INCLUDING my Rangers). Not just the Devils opponents.

This discussion doesn't involve the devils. Calm down there sparky. The topic of obstruction in the NZ was brought up regarding last night's game. It was happening with regularity anytime a Devils player dumped it in.

Is it a factor in why we lost? Absolutely not. But it is an issue going forward.

Clutch and grab is pretty commonplace in the corners & boards unfortunately. But we're talking about obstruction on dump ins. The devils have the most aggressive forecheck with a speedy collection of forwards. It isn't exactly a shock to see the opposition blatantly obstruct players like Zubrus, Parise and Josefson attempting to bee line to the puck. It happened a lot in the ranger series and after game 1 the kings seem to enjoy implementing this tactic. Play the puck I say. If Doughty wants the puck, he should get on his proverbial horse and go get it, instead of "escorting" our onrushing forwards towards the boards with no puck around.

The Kings sure did (by rule) interfere but later the Devils D caught on and did their own (by rule) interference.

NONE of it was called, so i can live with that in theory but since we thrive on the forecheck, i dont like that they got away with it in Game 1. It set the precedent for the game that hurt one of our biggest strengths. Hopefuly the refs take care of this in Game 2.

It really sets a bad precedent. These refs should be calling everything early. If it means 2 men in the box for both teams so be it. I don't understand the reluctance to enforce the rulebook. It is completely bizarre.

I'm watching Billy on the Street on Fuse and during a little commercial segment by Fuse, the Devils are answering music questions. I was not expecting that. (Hootie and the Blowfish, that's the first thing you think of?)

We are officially in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Panthers set tons of picks in Round 1 to set up shots. It's illegal, and it was never called once.

Guess who started to use that tactic against the Flyers in Round 2? And I dont know when they started, but the Rangers did it in the ECF too.

If the refs refuse to make calls, every team starts to exploit whatever it is that isnt getting called, because if not you're at a disadvantage.

But the guy from U2 is "The Edge", and the wrestler is just "Edge". Of course it's just quibbling, but that's the difference between the two.

I was really into wrestling in elementary and middle school. Edge was part of the trinity of intense tag teams.

Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Brothers. Whenever two of those three, or sometimes all three, teams wrestled, you were glued to your seat.

As for the dump ins, I'd rather them not be called then be called every time.

I think the refs let an awful lot go last night, but it's better than being whistle happy. The one I don't understand is how you let Quick lay on top of Parise and punch him in the head with a ref literally standing in the crease watching the Kings play 5v4. Karma got the best of Quick though and we scored on the next shift.

Having a day to gnaw on the loss, I still feel fine.

The way I look at it, if we got rolled 4-1 or something like that, I would be pretty worried about the Devils just being outclassed. For all the Kings dominance in the first period, the offense they generated was tepid at best. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, though the Devils were struggling in the first what they generated on offensive was well thought out, skillful but ultimately didn't find paydirt.

I thought overall the Devils responded pretty well to the Kings and by the end of the game, the Kings were showing no signs of being a more physical, talented or dominant team. Infact, I think it's safe to say we were the better team heading into the 3rd and the OT. A bad defensive lapse cost us, but honestly does anyone agree that The Kings seem to have a very hard time generating offense? Reminded me of the Ranger series. They can play, no doubt about it, but the Devils have more talent in the forwards to really take it to them.

DeBoer is going to get this team to play 60 full minutes on Saturday and hopefully they walk out the Rock 1-1. Basically win the next game and I have total faith we can find 3 more dubs. Lose the next one and I'll start to get a lil' pukey.

End of the day, the Jeff Carter's of the world do not win Stanley Cups.

If you didn't read the script, stay in the wings and stay clear of the craft service table.

That's what I'm saying. Without interfering, LA won't be able handle the NJ forecheck. Now, will that be the same the other way around?

lol WWE is A LOT more popular than you think. And Edge was one of the more popular wrestlers of the past decade, also got inducted into its HOF. I'm sure more people thought of the wrestler, also because he's a known Devils fan.

A HOF for wrestlers is like a HOF for actors. Or like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Pointless.

For the record, I thought everyone was speaking of the wrestler and not the guitarist.
