computers are ****ing jerks, man.

i've been struggling with fixing mine for the last two days. it won't let me backup any files and do a system restore. fine. i emailed myself any and all files i need and prepared to just lose some dumb pictures that i won't lose any sleep over and reset it to factory. nope, can't do that either. the screen where it should prompt me to repair my vista? yeah, it skips right over that and takes a ****ing day and a half to boot back up, then another day and a half to shut down. and apparently just burying "restore my system to factory default" somewhere in the os is just too difficult.

goddammit. i feel like smoking. and i've done all this, for the last three days with my wife getting snippy with me because i didn't order a ******* backlight for her ****** laptop that i'd like to kick out the ******* window.

venting is good. hallelujah. holy ****. where's the tylenol?

Hey, maybe a dumb question, are you trying to run restore function from a safe mode? If not, give it a try. That fails, unless you made your own restore disks, you can get those from the manufacturer. Usually a nominal charge for that. Given the strange behavior, try talking to guys on this forum:

http://www.techspot.com/community/fo...re-removal.28/

I can vouch for them - they are pretty good.

I was never a fan of Chris Nilan the player.

I do hope he is able to win this fight.

"The Last Gladiators" looks like it is going to be a good film.

I'm hoping Kovi can clarify the heh heh.

Did I do gooooooood....

You did just fine. She will like the Rebel, it takes nice photos. I am indeed a Nikon girl, myself....but that camera is fine.

I was giggling over the filter--salemen always push those....it's like an "extra". The pros hate them because they are shooting thru another piece of added glass....but yet, I saw a simple filter like that protect a $1400 lens on a workshop--the filter shattered the lens didnt. (exactly what it was suppose to do) Personally, in my situation, the less Sh it I have to manage with my camera the better--I dont use my hoods half the time because they are too much to manage with one hand. I'm sure it effects my photography, but ahhh well...

He likely made his commission off the service plan...so that was nice to up it to 4 years. [I ruined my first Nikon by falling and dropping it into a salt water puddle] I bought a 2 year Macplan after that for my D-7000.

you did just fine and seemed to get a good deal. I hope you get some great shots!!! and a hug from the wife

--enter Oren with his lecture about UV filters......go!

I debated between this one and the Nikon and what sold me on it is my wife's sister bought the same camera and if they want they can go half's on other lenses if they wish.

I bought it at Best Buy and they don't work off of commission but I was sold on the filter when I saw the prices of some of the other lenses...wow.

I really do hope she likes it and doesn't kill me...

You could always reformat the hard drive and then with the boot disks reinstall everything..

Definitely look into getting a Carbonite membership. Backs up everything you want, pics, movies ect without having to buy an external hard drive. I use both methods.

Don't smoke your doing awesome!

computer update:

sometime around 130am, i figured out that the recovery drive that is built into my computer was somehow corrupted. so i *think* i ordered recovery discs from dell. you enter your information online and they apparently send them to you. i entered my info and it seemed to go through?

and all without any cigarettes or caffeine.

thanks for the help and words of encouragement, all.

Go to a doctor is the only advice I give to someone with a joint injury.
