Except if pigs flew out my behind, then my farts would smell like bacon.

You're basing an awful lot, and forming a lot of wack opinions on your baseless theory that Thomas was unfaithful. Or the just as baseless accusation that he's trying to screw the B's over. The only thing you know for sure is that Thomas approached the organization and let them know that he was considering not playing next year. Anything beyond that is pure speculation, and your kind of speculation is the worst kind.

Thanks for helping us to win a Cup Timmy, but you are wearing on a lot of people. Why not just quit? Cannot believe at his age a year off will be easy to bounce back from. I also think that Chia and Neely are royally pissed at this I am sure. Players too. Rask gets to show what he has and he is a gamer so this could work out very well, except the cap hit.

Ironically, the Raycroft holdout opened the door for TT's 2nd shot with the B's.

It would still count against the cap because it was a 35+ deal.

Yeah. They are furious I'm sure. They are probably upset that they have those really heavy rings that give them arthritis or carpal tunnel or whatever thanks to Tim Thomas.. that *******.

Absolute opinion as are 99.9999% of the posts. No one knows what is going on except Timmy. I am not sure Chia even has the real story. I am going off the comments from teammates and front office and in my opinion they arent too bummed that Timmy may be leaving.

Technically yes, but he'd have to clear waivers, and it would only reduce the cap hit by $100,000.

Come on, Rick. I'm sure they're pissed. Regardless of the reason.

They gave Thomas this leverage when they signed him to such a cap friendly deal. I don't begrudge the Bruins for using their contractual rights once his NTC expires, its a business, but I also don't blame Thomas for leveraging his contractual rights. Its a business. Both ways.
Exactamundo. Nothing wrong with either side treating a business like a business.

because of the breach of contract thing and you seemed bent about it...Things come up greater then hockey I guess. He'll lose 3 million in real dollars, not 5 mil fake dollars in cap space. Would you rather he just played and collected his money but was miserable worrying about his family or sat here when maybe he should be trying to fix things... Dude could have another 40 years of life left, maybe he's trying to set himself up for real life.

Can't say I'm surprised. I remember The Buccigross comments from 2 years ago citing sources saying TT was not well received in the locker room. I remember people crapping all over that commentary including local scribes.
1 year removed from the perfect goaltending performance and the organization is quiet about this??

Let me be clear, it is not only the military, that is one example, how much time does a doctor spend away from home, I look at the oil patch workers in Alberta, 14 days in camp 4 home, the list goes on and on. I do not think it is an excuse to cut bait and run on your employer or fans because you chose not to fulfill your contract. He had no problems with it when he held the hammer with the NTC, but now all of a sudden he needs to be with his family. Again, I am hoping it is not an illness in his family but I am also hoping like hell it is not because he just does not want to be traded.
You didn't say it specifically, but the implication was there. I understand that it's not just military, but a plethora of others who do it. But plenty of them reach a point where they choose to do something else because it's what their family needs. I did -I added to my post to explain my situation, to describe my relevant situation. If that's what their families need, then putting them first should be applauded, not denigrated, regardless of whether they are military, oil workers, "supercommuters" or yes, even professional athletes.

I look back at Dom's posts in this thread, and can't help but think, "yup". If folks think he's selfish and that's all there is to it, then the easy answer is "selfish people don't leave 3 million on the table". We may not know the exact specific reason why he's doing it, we may never know, but it's really not that hard to figure out the main jist when you look at the information we do have.

Money and Career < Family. I'd expect nothing else from a player I consider one of the few good role models left.

But in the post I quoted, you said 'let's face facts". I just hate it when people set down their opinion and then call it a fact. it seems to be happening a lot in this thread (oh who am I kidding, it happens a lot in EVERY thread!) So I do appreciate that you acknowledge it as your own opinion. Not meaning to rail on you about it, so please don't take it as a personal slam.

I can only name Paul pierce on the current celtics team. I did watch one playoff game by accident at a bar when I had a little too much to drink
