Can KINGS make a deal w/ the DEVIL(s) to win the Cup, or will Kovalchuk have the last laugh ?

We execute well, and so far this year, it’s been good defense, really good goaltending and timely goals.’’ (on getting a goal against the run of play in overtime, and what it says about the Kings…) “It’s kind of been the staple of our team all year. We’ve been really good, in this postseason, in handling momentum. I thought they took it to us in the second half of the game, and maybe the last five minutes of the third, we took it to them. Overtime, it’s overtime. There’s going to be chances both ways. They had some good chances, and we found the best chance.’’ (on the dressing-room conversation before overtime…) “Just keep the energy up, support, quick plays. The ice was bad, so make sure you’re doing the short plays and all the little plays. With the ice, and overtime, it’s going to be a little play that costs you the game. It turned out that it was a little chip and a bad read, and Kopi got a breakaway.’’ (on the bad ice…) “It’s a little bit harder to play in this type of climate, but both teams are doing it, so it’s a little bit of an even playing field out there. You look at some of the plays tonight, with pucks bouncing, not a lot of good opportunities. … It’s one of those things. The D, if you’re going to make a mistake, you want it to be up higher in the zone. The D are behind the net and the puck is rolling on them. They’re throwing it off the glass, which is probably the best play, and then you kind of battle it out from there. It’s something both teams have to deal with.’’ (on managing emotions in Game 1…) “I think you approach it like any other game. I know that sounds funny, but that’s what you have to do. It’s pretty easy, once you get to the rink and get ready to go. It becomes just like another game."
Originally Posted by Forward & Alternate Captain ANZE KOPITAR, on Hus OT Goal :
"Well, the battle was just inside our zone. I think Brownie chipped the puck out to Justin and I kind of just wanted to make sure I stayed in the middle. Worked out pretty well after that.” (on how it feels to score a goal in the Stanley Cup Finals…) “It feels great. Every time you get the chance to finish it off in OT, you know, to face a world-class goaltender like Marty is, it’s definitely a good feeling.” (on whether he knew Justin Williams was going to make that pass…) “Like I said before, I saw those two on the boards battling. I wanted to make sure I went through the middle. I don’t know if he heard me or not. I yelled for the puck. He chipped it obviously perfect, right on my tape. It happened pretty quick. I was able to finish it off.” (on the impact of the Kings’ fourth line…) “They probably had one of the best games in the playoffs so far. You know, they had some really good ones before. Tonight they capped it off with a nice goal. Definitely got us going in the first period. Seems like we came out a little slower than we wanted to. The way they came out and established the forecheck, had some cycles in their zone, gave us a huge boost.” (on the Kings’ road success…) “Yeah, I mean, every time you get on the road you need a team effort. It showed again tonight. We had four lines going, six D. Jonathan was great at net for us again. We’ve got to continue doing that.” (on whether the first two periods were a feeling-out process…) “Well, that was really not the plan, to feel them out for two periods. You want to get out as hard as you can. Especially on the road, you have to have a good start. Tonight maybe we didn’t have the start we needed. We got the first goal, which was huge for us. After that, we kind of got legs underneath us and we were able to generate some chances. You know, they don’t give up a whole lot. You’ve have to be careful going through the neutral zone, that you don’t make any turnovers, because they got some speedy forwards, some forwards obviously that can finish. You have to create turnovers and just make sure you make strong plays.” (on the move he made on Martin Brodeur…) “I guess that goes back a few years, when we were in the shootout in L.A., and I went backhand on him. Maybe he thought I was going to do it again. Tonight I just wanted to mix it up a little bit."
Originally Posted by Goaltender JONATHAN QUICK, on matching up against Martin Brodeur :

I’m trying to make saves and help my team win a game.” (on the low number of shots in the game…) “Last series, I played a handful of games where I’d see around 20 shots. You know, I didn’t really know what to expect coming into this game, seeing as we haven’t played them in so long. Watching Ranger games, they had anywhere between 40 shots and 20 shots against Lundqvist. I was just going shift by shift. If the team needed me, I just wanted to make the save.” (on the reason for the Kings’ road success…) “I think we’ve outworked teams. I think whoever wins this series is going to be the team that out‑works the other.” (on his tussle with Zach Parise…) “Well, I don’t know how — he may have got tripped up a little bit. He ended up, you know, right at my knees there. I don’t know if they were trying to get to the net. He kind of grabbed me a little bit. Just gave him a little shove back. That’s all it was. Nothing big.” (on the Devils’ goal…) “It’s a bounce. That’s part of the game. Felt like I played it the right way. I was trying to get it into the corner, over the glass, get a whistle. The way I directed it, it ended up, I don’t know who it hit, but it hit somebody, then it ended up in the back of the net."

My linemates have been terrific this whole playoff, Kopi and Brownie, and he scored another big goal for us.’’ (on getting a goal against the run of play…) “Yeah, certainly. They’re a great team. They come at you hard. They don’t give you any space. They’ve got a heck of a forecheck and a great goalie. We expect more of this throughout the series.’’ (on his pass to Kopitar…) “It’s just an area pass, and you hope the guy skates into it. We didn’t have our best tonight. We know that we can play better, and we’re planning on doing that.’’ (on playing Game 1 after the long break…) “I thought we handled the layoff pretty well. Mentally, we just need to get more focused. The ice wasn’t very good, so we need to take that into consideration. All in all, we’re excited with the win, but we need to follow it up."

(The) ability to stay with it, play four lines, six defensemen, I think both teams would say that.” (on the low shot totals…) “Well, I’m sure both teams tried to take shots. It’s not like they weren’t trying. Both very good defensive teams first.” (on trying to maintain focus going into overtime…) “Well, I don’t think there’s a problem with focus or struggling. It’s pretty evenly matched teams. Probably going to be more than one overtime game (in the series).” (on Jonathan Quick’s play…) “Well, I think Marty made two huge saves in the third period, too. That’s what both goalies are here for, right? It’s not one ahead of the other or anything different. They’re going to have to make big saves and keep it low scoring.” (on the Kings’ road success…) “We won one on the road now. Season started today, tonight."

You know, we made a mistake; they capitalized.” (on whether the game was a little bit of a feeling out process for both teams…) “Yeah, I think we’re going to have to find another level. I feel we have another level. I thought we came out a little tentative, as was expected for a Stanley Cup Final game. I thought we got better as the game went on. That’s a team you’ve got to play 60 minutes against. The good news is we started in the same hole against Philly, we started in the same hole against the Rangers. We responded to the situation in the right way the last two rounds, and I expect the same.’’ (on Zach Parise’s game, and what the Kings were doing against him…) “It was a combination. They were good. They were off for a while. We knew they’d be good. I thought we were a little tentative early. Once we got comfortable, I thought we started to play better. We’ve got to be better than we were tonight.’’ (on playing well in the third period…) “Yeah, well, we pushed in some spurts tonight, like you said. That was one of them. There was a few of those, but not enough to have success against that team.’’ (on the keys to improving…) “I think our group has a pretty good … does a pretty good job of self analyzing, looking at the game and realizing, both individually and collectively, where we have to get better. We have two days to do that. We’ll be better on Saturday night.’’ (on the Devils’ scoring chances in a 1-1 game…) “You know, it would have been nice to get a bounce. But, you know, I don’t believe we deserved to win tonight. That’s the bottom line. That’s what happened. If we had have won, we would have been sneaking one out, so…."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Kevin from Kevin and Bean and Stryker are huge fans, so they might have been a voice behind the scenes but other than that there are a buttload of people jumping on, which is a bit annoying.

Didn't realize how similar Kopitar and Brown's stats are right now. Both have 15 GP, 7 G, 9 A, 16 P, + 14, 2 SHG, 52 Shots, and a 13.46 shooting percentage. They are only different on game winning goals, penalty minutes, and average time on ice.

Brown definitely needed this run. I think this is the start of his prime.
