Uruguay winning today pretty much ends any hope for Venezuela and Peru. The current top 5 are the ones competing for the automatic spots.

Argentina with a win will be the first South American team to qualify from the group

4 team get an automatic berth while the 5th go on to the playoff no?

Also Argentina need only a draw I believe.

Pk for tina the Paraguay keeper shouldve been sent off.

Messi 1-0

Romero with a terrible goal to give away.

Crapacio misses his sitter for the game, quite remarkable how consistent he is at that.

Uruguay is really close to being seeded...we could get Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay all as WC seeds. Would mess with the draw quite a bit, I'd think.

seeding Colombia or Uruguay would be soooo dumb, this is why you should take rankings with a grain of salt...but I don't think Uruguay would get to be a seed..

Colombia has earned their seed, Uruguay on the other hand no way. Their Fifa ranking is going up huge this month though.

If that happens there will be that 'special pot' nonsense like we saw at the 2006 draw where one European team will get their own pot and will have to go to one of the non-UEFA seed groups

Ideally for FIFA they want 5 UEFA and 3 non-UEFA seeds. Then the rest of the draw balances out perfectly

Pot 1: 5 UEFA + 3 non-UEFA
Pot 2: AFC + CONCACAF
Pot 3: CONMEBOL + CAF
Pot 4: Unseeded UEFA

I don't agree with this. Colombia hasn't been to a WC since 98, you don't just "earn" a seeding in a WC from a couple of month's run...just 4-3 months ago Colombia was ranked 7th, and just exactly a year ago they were #22..

seedings should be

Brazil
Argentina
Spain
Germany
Netherlands
Italy
Portugal
France

France and Portugal will be playing in playoffs. Something which should definitely mean a team isn't seeded. There's no perfect way for seeding, but Colombia whipped on some good teams.

USA and Costa Rica have qualified for the World Cup after Honduras' draw against Panama. Honduras are very close while the Mexico vs. Panama match in October will probably determine who 4th place is

France and Portugal are perennial WC fixtures and performers...as I said, "whipping" some good teams for a couple of months doesn't guarantee being seeded, specially over France which I'm positive will make the WC, so will Portugal...if Portugal doesn't then that's a different story..but even then, if Uruguay or even Croatia make it they prob. deserve it even more than Colombia

Maxi still has a touch nice finish as well.

Too bad no larissa riquelme this WC.

Tina advance with relative ease. Aguero was super today and Gago is a staple in the mid. I would like to see him paired with masch and banega.

Bolivia - Ecuador 1:1
Uruguay - Colombia 2:0
Venezuela - Peru 3:2
Paraguay - Argentina 2:5

1. Argentina 29 +19
2. Colombia 26 +13
3. Chile 24 +3
4. Ecuador 22 +4
----------------------------
5. Uruguay 22 0
----------------------------
6. Venezuela 19 -6
7. Peru 14 -7
8. Paraguay 11 -10
9. Bolivia 11 -13

Argentina have qualified with two games to spare while Uruguay's victory pretty much ends realistic hope for Venezuela to qualify as Venezuela only have one game remaining.

Michel D'hooghe, Belgian Executive committee member has already said he believes Belgium will go seeded into the draw if they manage to hold on sixth place on the FIFA ranking. According to him, FIFA will most likely use the same system as in 2010.
