Much better from iran in the 2nd half.

Lebanon up 1-0 on S. Korea .

... and iran just score on a broken play but they deserve it.

Iran win they're tied for 2nd.

Iran's victory in Doha practically ends any hope for Qatar

South Korea losing at the moment is making this group wide open

If Lebanon wins this game, I will be ecstatic. Let's go Cedars!!

EDIT: Too bad in the end it's virtually meaningless. If only they had a few more goals in earlier games or something

Korea's finishing is bad, they pretty much missed two point blank shots in a span of a few minutes, Lebanon holding on for dear life and time wasting, 5 minutes plus added time to go

Leb needs another goal. Then they need to beat Iran by probably 2 goals and hope Korea beats Iran 2-0 or so as well.

I believe!! /blind faith

7 minutes of injury time with Lebanon players still falling, good decision by the ref to give 7 minutes but lets see if he extends it even more

goal Korea! 97th minute free kick from just outside the box...have to say it was deserved and Lebanon can blame only themselves for this game getting to 97 minutes

Lebanon better be careful, Korea could score a winner here, one of their players sent off

I'm honestly just laughing. Odds were completely against us anyway. Still, woulda been nice to not choke.

With Canada and now Lebanon officially eliminated, I guess I have to enjoy 2014 as a neutral. Again. Sad how the Cedars got closer than Canada though

I'm not watching the game but that seems excessive. Players wasting time is normal and I don't think I ever seen 7mins of added time.

I think it was about right, its just refs sometimes don't have the balls to do it. I only started watching from about the 60th minute but literally from 80-90th minute the ball was in play for about 3 minutes. Lebanon at this time made three substitutions, they had 3-4 "injuries" (only one was legit) and at one point they had two guys down at the same time which alone wasted about 2 minutes.

Group A
Qatar - Iran 0:1
Lebanon - South Korea 1:1

1. South Korea 6 11
2. Uzbekistan 6 11
---------------------------
3. Iran 6 10
---------------------------
4. Qatar 7 7
5. Lebanon 7 5

South Korea, Uzbekistan and Iran pretty much fighting for the two automatic spots. Lebanon are eliminated while Qatar are pretty much eliminated as well but not mathematically.

Group B
Japan - Australia 1:1
Oman - Iraq 1:0

1. Japan 7 14 [qualified]
2. Oman 7 9
------------------------------
3. Australia 6 7
------------------------------
4. Jordan 6 7
5. Iraq 6 5

Japan have qualified with one game to spare. Australia have destiny in their own hands with two home games remaining against the bottom two teams. Oman need to win their remaining match (at Jordan) and hope Australia slip up in at least one game. Jordan will need to win both their remaining games because of their poor GD. Iraq are pretty much out but not mathematically

There's a strong possibility that Australia could miss out. After today's games it's

Group A:

South Korea - 6 - 11pts
Uzbekistan - 6 - 11pts
Iran - 6 - 10pts
Qatar - 7 - 7pts
Lebanon - 7 - 5pts

Group B:

Japan - 7 - 14pts
Oman - 7 - 9pts
Australia - 6 - 7pts
Jordan - 6 - 7pts
Iraq - 6 - 5pts

One thing in Australia's favour is that their two games are at home to Jordan and Iraq.

Again, I can't accurately judge seeing how I didn't watch a single second but 7 mins seems a bit much for stuff that happens regularly in football.

would be really cool to see Uzbekistan make it. I don't think a Central Asian team has ever made it.

Mexico lead Jamaica 1:0, after a poor first half Mexico scored on their first attack of the second half, but Mexico are too preditable, not enough creativity. Jamaica are organized and try to hit on the counter but play like headless chickens, you can see they are filled with English Championship players, guns blazin but no brains

Mexico hold on to win their first match of the WC qualifying campaign. Mexico's goal opened the game up and Jamaica forced Corona to make 2-3 great saves. Mexico didn't take care of their chances once Jamaica pushed numbers forward.

Jamaica pretty much play a "must win" game on Friday against the US. Mexico visit Panama with only two days rest while Costa Rica and Honduras should be an interesting one

Bolivia - Venezuela 1:1
Argentina - Colombia 0:0
Paraguay - Chile 1:2
Peru - Ecuador 1:0

None of the top three win but they still should be alright in terms of qualification. Chile get a massive victory in Paraguay which essentially ends any chance they had for a WC spot. Peru's win over Ecuador keeps them alive and puts enormous pressure on Uruguay who go to Venezuela on Tuesday before the start of the Confederations Cup

1. Argentina 12 25
2. Colombia 11 20
3. Ecuador 11 20
4. Chile 12 18
-----------------------------
5. Venezuela 12 16
-----------------------------
6. Peru 11 14
7. Uruguay 11 13
8. Bolivia 12 10
9. Paraguay 12 8

In CONCACAF, USA picked up a crucial victory in Kingston thanks to a 90th minute goal by Brad Evans. The result pretty much dooms Jamaica who have only picked up one point from 3 homes matches. Mexico and Panama play a boring scoreless draw as Mexico continue to struggle offensively. Costa Rica continue their good start with a 1:0 victory over Honduras who have disappointed in the early going

1. Costa Rica 7 +2
2. USA 7 +1
3. Mexico 7 +1
4. Panama 6 +2
5. Honduras 4 -2
6. Jamaica 2 -4

Important to note that Mexico and Jamaica have played a game more

the weekend of African qualifying ended today while unlike most confederations they will continue next weekend as well. There are still two matchdays remaining in the group stage and most of the groups are still open.

Group A
1. Ethiopia 10
2. South Africa 8

Both teams won their away matches this week and Ethiopia are still top of the group. The big match is next Sunday where Ethiopia host South Africa. With a win Ethiopia will win the group.

Group B
1. Tunisia 10
2. Sierra Leone 5

Tunisia are realistically one point away from qualification to the next round as they face Equatorial Guinea away next week then Cape Verde at home in September. Really no excuses for them now

Group C
1. Ivory Coast 10
2. Tanzania 6

As expected Ivory Coast are cruising in the group with the disappointing Morocco not even in the picture. CIV go to Tanzania next week where they can officially win the group.

Group D
1. Zambia 10
2. Ghana 9

A tough two team race which will probably be decided with the head-to-head matchup in Ghana in September. Zambia host Sudan next week while Ghana go to group whipping boys Lesotho so each side should pick up three points

Group E
1. Congo 10
2. Burkina Faso 6
3. Gabon 4

Congo are the surprise package so far in qualifying, they don't score much but more importantly they haven't conceded a goal yet. They host Burkina Faso next week in a hope to wrap up the group. Gabon are still barely alive but will need help

Group F
1. Nigeria 8
2. Malawi 6
3. Namibia 4

Nigeria haven't really impressed in these qualifiers despite being African champions. They go to Namibia next week and if they don't win there than Malawi can take first place before their head-to-head matchup in September.

Group G
1. Egypt 12
2. Guinea 7

Egypt are cruising, the only perfect team remaining in Africa. Guinea though is still in the fight. Egypt will go to Mozambique next week and a win will secure first place

Group H
1. Algeria 9
2. Mali 7
3. Benin 4

Algeria picked up an impressive win in Benin while Mali had the big disappointing of the round with a 1:1 draw at home to Rwanda! Algeria visit Rwanda while Mali host Benin next week. The final matchday see's Algeria host Mali in September

Group I
1. Libya 6
2. Cameroon 6
3. Congo DR 5
4. Togo 4

One of the few groups where all 4 teams are in contention. Next week's fixtures are Libya vs. Togo and Congo DR vs. Cameroon

Group J
1. Senegal 6
2. Uganda 5
3. Angola 4
4. Liberia 4

Another group where all 4 teams are in contention. Uganda vs. Angola and Liberia vs. Senegal next week

as much as people here in the States think CONCACAF is the wild wild west, I'll still say its African World Cup qualifying, love the commentary
