Yeah, a nice scoring winger would look nice in our Prospect Pool...but I really think that Siemens will turn into a player that the Avs will value greatly, someone like Adam Foote. And I mean that in the sense that he was generally overlooked for not bringing in the points like Blake or Bourque or Ozo did.
But we all know what Adam Foote meant to this Defensive corps. And I think down the line that Siemens could provide that steady, defense-first mindset that our Defensemen will need.
So he finally caught up to Klefbom but Klefbom plays in a harder league and did it in fewer games.
Siemens can't catch up to Klefbom, Klefbom is a top pairing defender of the likes of Cody Ceci and Jeff Petry. He'll provide better defense than the top pairing defender Ladislav Smid.
Siemens is lucky if he maxes out as a top 4 defender, he's far more likely to go the path of McIlrath and other 11th overall picks towards busterdom.
Removing the sarcasm, whose Siemens most consistent partner this year?

Been mostly a split of Dalton Thrower (his partner exclusively last season) and Darren Dietz. Lately it's been Dietz and they've been fantastic as a pairing.
Siemens played very good last night, arguably his best game of the season. Was a force defensively, although made one mistake with the puck in the 3rd, luckily it never cost the Blades.
Also got into a scrap, defending a teammate after Jobke laid a questionable hit on Stransky.

Hope that doesn't become true... I am hoping he can become a somewhat steady Dman for the Avs in the future. Otherwise, yes, he's a bust.
Garrett Meurs will play in Ryan Rupert's spot on the OHL team in the Subway Series today on Sportsnet for those interested.. I also got a chance to see Blandisi play in Kitchener last week, despite his size he has nice vision and is pretty slippery on the ice. He also didn't shy away from physical play and initiated some of it as well.. overall I thought he was one of the best players for the Attack especially when it came to generating scoring chances.

How good did Bigras look? He is a pretty intriguing prospect to me.
Also Meurs got a secondary assist, but he was the one who set up that play. 1-0 OHL, 1st inter.
E: So Meurs looked ok (made some nice plays, but also made some stupid plays). You can see his skill, but is still suffering from his lightness. He got abused by some of the Russian defensemen.

Ya I thought he looked outclassed most of the game.. he has sort of looked similar in most Plymouth games I've seen this year - not bad but not standing out. Though apparently he looked good in training camp last year so that play probably means more at this point, I would just like to see some more development and more offensive creativity being one of the older players in the league
Siemens has looked better than Reinhart IMO. I've seen Siemens a bunch of times now this season and he has simplified his game and it has been very effective. I just wish he would seriously work hard on his shot.
Also I am lovin' Graham Black! I haven't been able to watch Swift Current much so far, but the kid has looked solid on both ends of the ice tonight.
