^ None at all. Just saying he's cleared for practice.

Also in other news, Donnelly was traded to Quebec. Awesome news that he gets to play on a playoff team and make another deep run to the Memorial Cup. I am very curious with what the Avs plan on doing with him.

Nope. I still haven't seen any confirmation that he's even practicing again. If he is practicing, is it full contact or is he just skating with the team and doing drills?

Still too many unknowns to make any kind of prediction on when he'll start playing again.

Nermark has played 62 SEL games. Zero goals and four assists. Even as a fourth liner with limited ice time, you'd think Avs would have hoped for a bit more offense from him.

Who knows until the CBA is in place. One would think that anyone originally invited could still be brought in but in reality both Brace and Lipon are probably subject to the draft only now. Maybe we get lucky and the Avs will be allowed to at least make contract offers to camp invites. They can still sign their AHL Ds who had to sign AHL contracts.

Sure but then again he's more defensive oriented, young and in a diminished role. I believe Hahl didn't go too crazy playing in Finland after he was drafted and he was seeing higher quality ice time.

In addition, he's done fine against/with players his age. If he was in Canada playing he would have no problem putting up good numbers. Instead he's a 19 year old seeing very limited ice time as a defensive forward in one of the top leagues in the world.

I heard he has improved his defensive game and if Avs sign him to a ELC, it will be because of this strength. Personally I think he made the mistake of staying in Sweden and not going to the CHL.

If Avs could pass on a guy like Rutkowski, it's hard seeing a winger in SEL playing fourth line minutes without much of an offensive game would be offered an ELC. Especially with guys like Malone and Heard surely being ahead of him at this stage and how easy it's to fill that role with a cheap UFA.

I might add that I haven't watched a lot of SEL (not crazy about it to start with and my favorite team is in the tier below), so I have no idea how he's playing. SEL teams sometimes don't give junior players a decent chance. That's one of the reasons you see more and more swedes in junior hockey in Canada. Some teams are decent but Linköping is a team that doesn't have much of a junior tradition.

Troy Bourke with a Gordie Howe hat-trick tonight in the Cougars 8-4 loss to Vancouver. Now on a 5-game point streak.

Lots of talk about Bourke, but what about Colin Smith? He is leading the WHL in points. I haven't watched any games this year, what is the story on him?

#9 Colin Smith – Playmaking Forward [Colorado Avalanche]
Pros: Amazing vision. Amazing passing ability. High IQ. Powerplay beast. Decent skater. Underrated defense game.
Cons: Prone to do too much. Needs to add frame. Could be more patience with the puck at times.
Potential: Top 6 or bust forward

It looks like Heard had a solid first game back in the OHL a couple of assists. Hopefully some added ice-time will be good for him.

Good skater, very good offensive skills, good work ethic...many people out there actually think he is the WHL's best playmaker. Hard to argue against that to be honest.

Yes, it helps that he's older than the other kids taken during the 2012 draft but the kid is a solid prospect.

Some players just boom latter then others too. Combination of size or IQ finally catching up with skill. The fact that Colin Smith is leading the WHL in scoring is something good. Doesn't mean he's going to light up the NHL, however at least its something to get excited about.

Kent Patterson has been playing good for us appearently.

6-1-1 during the month of December with a 1.85 goals against average and a .943 save percentage.

Anybody got a Hishon update? Is he still practicing? Has he even practiced yet? The last word was that he was cleared to practice.

Does anybody know if the shortened season will still have a training camp? And if so can we still sign camp invites such as JC Lipon.

No way to know yet, they haven't even approved the final draft of the CBA.

There will be a short training camp. There is a short list of CHL players being released for training camp. Only drafted players. The Lipon ship has sailed for Avs, unless they draft him this summer.

Anaheim: Richard Rakell, John Gibson
Boston: Dougie Hamilton
Buffalo: Mikhail Grigorenko
Carolina: Ryan Murphy, Victor Rask
Columbus: Boone Jenner, Ryan Murray
Dallas: Radek Faksa, Matej Stransky, Brett Ritchie
Edmonton: Nail Yakupov, David Musil
Florida: Jonathan Huberdeau
Minnesota: Matthew Dumba
Montreal: Alex Galchenyuk
NY Islanders: Ryan Strome, Griffin Reinhart
Ottawa: Cody Ceci, Stefan Noesen
Philadelphia: Scott Laughton
Pittsburgh: Scott Harrington, Olli Maatta, Derrick Pouliot
St. Louis: Ty Rattie
Toronto: Morgan Rielly, David Broll
Vancouver: Frank Corrado
Washington: Thomas Wilson
Winnipeg: Mark Scheifele

These are the players that teams can invite. It doesn't mean all of them will be invited.

I think thats crap that the Avs did their homework and invited some talented undrafted players like Lipon and Cameron Brace (OHL), but now they get screwed and don't get first crack at signing them.
