I have only watched a few games, but he has been really good from what I have seen. Responsible on both ends of the ice, winning faceoffs, killing penalties, and still scoring some points. With Rakell coming back, Plymouth might have the best forwards in the OHL and they should make a run in the playoffs. Heard should have been down in the OHL all season IMO, he just wasn't ready for the AHL.
What do people see Meurs becoming? I've read some good things recently. Could he become a player like Dave Bolland?
I wouldn't expect him to be like Bolland. First off Meurs is pretty much only a wing now (Plymouth has some great center depth). He has a pretty good snap shot and a decent set of hands on him. Will always skate hard, be fairly physical, and be good on the forecheck for his size. He is also willing to go into the dirty areas to get some goals. Said to have a great work ethic.
On the downside, he is pretty small for the style of game he plays. He will get pushed around a lot until he bulks up. While he has good enough speed and acceleration, I'm not a big fan of his skating (a lot of Avs prospects have had that issue corrected over the years, we do well fixing that problem). Not amazing defensively. While he has some offensive skill, I wouldn't look at it translating at a high level.
His ceiling is probably a good 3rd line RW that can chip in ~12-17 goals while providing good energy. On the low side should be an AHL scoring wing. Solid prospect, but not a high level one.

I'm curious about this as well. I had hoped that he would be more NHL ready than it looks like he was. Now with this O'Reilly thing, his pick could be even more important if he pans out.
Have to sign Meurs first. Meurs is a good friend of O'Reilly's.
Callup might be a possibility but I am rooting for him to get laid
Even though his girlfriend lives in Vancouver, I assume he gets laid enough. I'd rather see him in the NHL.

I assume it was because they thought that getting top line minutes in the OHL is better for him than the 4th line minutes he was getting in the AHL. Plus he didn't look that great in the AHL so it would have been tough for him to get more minutes.
Hopefully it means he has been cleared to play. I know some people said he had a knee injury but Dater continues to say it's a head injury....

Elliott has had a mediocre season in Lake Erie — and he's hurt now, too. He has a head injury. If it's a concussion and it's long-term, that is obviously terrible news for his development.

JS Giguere to leave the team for personal reasons, will rejoin for Sunday's practice. Calvin Pickard emergency recall from Lake Erie.
