I tutored a student last year who played with Mitch and was friends with him. I heard some stories that pretty much supported the "whiny little *****" comment. Rich, spoiled brat are the words my student used, more than once.

I've always had a strong hatred for really *****y spoiled kids, but having had to go to a really fancy private school as the partial tuition kid will leave an impact.

*L* How old is Mitchel? Kid's going through normal growing up **** and he's getting grilled over his tweets on a hockey forum. I'm really happy about two things tonight.
1. My dad was not famous.
2. I grew up before twitter.

According to Wikipedia, Mitchell was born in '96, which would make him 17 at the most.

I agree. It's a teenager with a Twitter account. Who cares?

It's kinda cool to be son of Joe Sakic though.

Siemens is on the verge of 3 milestones. He sits at 245 career regular season games, 99 career assists and 392 PIMs.

when the WHL season is over, is it likely Siemens plays a few AHL games or even is brought up to Colorado if we're really out of the mix?

Also...how did he play 3 games in the A last year being 18 years old at the time?

I don't have any inside info, but given the Avs track record in that regard, I'd say the chances are pretty good they'd probably like him to do one of those.

Saskatoon is hosting the Memorial Cup, he's going nowhere except if they lose early in the playoffs. Maybe as tryout contract for a few weeks until the Cup starts.

I figured this was the best place to put this question

Just curious, what good does it do a player like Sgarbossa to just sit as a healthy scratch? Why not either send him back down for more development or play him?

It was because his junior team had been eliminated from playoffs already.

There is some value to having him up. He gets to train and practice with NHL players and see their work ethic first hand. He builds a relationship with the coaching staff and team. Gets to learn whatever system Sacco is trying to put in (if there is one). I'd argue that his time would be better in Lake Erie though.

Very slim chance that happens.

The Avs know how important he is to Saskatoon's chances and they know how big of a stage it is for him to get to play on. I doubt they would want to risk his injury in order for him to spend some time with the Avalanche.

The only way he will play anywhere besides Saskatoon this year is if the Avs are in the Western Finals or Stanley Cup Finals in early June, as the Memorial Cup is done in late May.

Ah, that's true. I forgot he'd still be playing in the memorial cup even if they got eliminated early, or missed the WHL playoffs.

But what's the rule for that? Player is not allowed by rules to play in the league.... Unless his CHL team is not in the playoffs? Seems odd

I think there is a limit to how many they can play...but he's under contract, so he was free to play.

Siemens was sitting at -9 on November 27th. He's now a team-leading +26. That means he's been +35 in the past 35 games for Saskatoon.

Good to see Duncan coming into his own a little bit here. I cant wait to see him in an Avs uni.

Just a heads up that Colin Smith and the Blazers take on the Vancouver Giants tomorrow on Sportsnet's Friday Night Hockey.

1st period just over KAM/VAN game. Nice to be able to watch Smith play. This guy certainly has a lot of energy to his game. He skates really well.

One thing I noticed and happy to see, he certainly seems bigger than the 5'10 175 lbs he has been reported to be. First of all Blazers site list him at 5'11 175 lbs. I agree with 5'11 but he looks heavier than 175 lbs. Looks more like 185 to me. However he will need to get a lot stronger if he wants to make it to the NHL. I like what I'm seeing though. Looking forward to see what he can do next year at the next level.

Siemens and the Blades have now won 14 straight games, setting a new franchise record.
