Big news out of the Senators' front office this morning. Rumours earlier in the week suggested that GM hockeyalltheway was hard at work, crunching numbers, trying to figure out how best to piece his team together. He also tirelessly drew up graphs so complex that you wouldn't even begin to understand them. After four solid minutes' work, though, GM hockeyalltheway has prepared a statement to the media and will not be taking any questions.
"Good morning to all members of the press," hockeyalltheway said. "This will be a very short conference, as I only have the following words to say:
All Northeast division teams suck but ours! GO SENS GO!
I'm really upset with myself that I haven't been more active. I genuinely apologise. I got laid off from my job on Monday, got drunk at the bar and went home with some girl twice my size. Pretty sure I brought something home with me, but that pales in comparison to having to put my dog to sleep last night. He was my last friend that I had in this world.
I understand why you might have the inclination to remove me, and I am willing to accept that. I was really excited, but I let petty things get in the way of what I truly should've been focusing on.
I'm keeping tabs on a couple of GM's right now that if we don't here from them tonight they'll be replaced. That's basically the last thing I'm waiting on so more than likely I will open up the game and we can begin our 3-4 day trading period. Actual simming will most likely start some time this weekend.
Remember to read the rules in the op because I already know what someone will mess up lol.
So, I want to make sure I get this correct, none of the players who are UFA's or RFA's at years end are there yet. So we are using the rosters that ended the 2012 season for another full season (SIMed) and then using the results for the draft order.
We keep the picks we may have gained/lost in the real 2012 season (such as the Carter deal)?
Just look at it like this: We are taking the real NHL rosters at seasons end and turning the clock back to October to re-do the last season. As soon as this season is complete everything will be back to normal time wise. The standings will determine the entry draft order, that's correct.
The only thing that you got wrong is the draft picks. For all intents and purposes, every team has every pick in the entry draft at the start of the game. Real life traded that involved picks wont have any barring in this entry draft. It just makes it easier for me.
Ahh, so I don't have the OTT 2nd or LA 1st from my trades of Vermette or Carter?
Unless someone can find a list for me while I'm at work of all the trades involving draft picks for this years entry draft it's just a lot easier for me to give everyone all their draft picks and let them trade the picks themselves. I'm open to using real life picks traded if someone wants to find it b
I'm ok with that but maybe not every year? Sometimes GMs are given another chance. Plus, I don't know exactly how the drafting was going to be done but that means those Gms can't stick around to utilize their 1st or 2nd or 3rd round draft picks.
Hey, sorry to get back so late. It was hectic last night and this morning. Seeing as how the league is being done on NHL12 the idea becomes a moot point. Honestly, New York RKY has enough work setting this up let alone to creating a second league as well. However, if someone else wouldn't mind setting up a second league I could see how this could work. I'd do it myself, but unfortunately I don't own a gaming system
As for Killem, I think you definitely raise a legitimate issue. The only slight variation I would make is that I obviously agree that most draft picks take time, but part of the skill of a gm is trying to compete even while they are trying to build for the future. Plus, it would only be the bottom "worst" gm's that would be moved down so the competition should be improving. What I would suggest to balance this out is to delay the start of the promotion/demotion say 2-3 seasons. This would give current gm's enough time to rebuild their team if they need or at least put themselves in fighting contention to not be in the bottom 3rd by the start of it.
I talked to the other mods on the rangers forum and we all agreed that we're only going to run one fantasy league on the rangers board. We don't want to turn this into the mock drafts section. OB if you want to run the game, or get someone to run it for you you should bring your idea over there. It does sound like a good idea.
