1-2-3 strikes and your out! Trevor Lewis who as a first round pick is a bust, has been missing on chances left and right all series long, and now finally puts the nail in the coffin!

Refs missing a call? Yeah, I can see the frustration there, because it happens all the time. But even then, Bernier made one of the dumbest decisions of his life and chose to make that hit. Even if you're frustrated over the ref missing a call, this is Game 6 of the finals. There is NO room for error. You're team is done if you lose. You HAVE to keep your head on straight and play smart. The last thing you want to do is give the ref ANY reason to give the opponent a 5 minute PP. I don't care if the ref has been blind all night, you still don't take that risk. It cost them 3 freaking goals!!!!

That said, the Devils PK and goaltending is also to blame for losing their composure. Each goal got weaker and weaker. They unraveled faster than Lindsey Lohan.

Since this wasn't clear in my 2 posts stating this already.

Bernier deserved his penalty

Bernier deserving that penalty doesn't mean that the refs didn't miss an extremely obvious check from behind just moments before it. I called out the penalty on that hit the instant it happened. Yes I have the benefit of a perfect view of the play from the camera angle... but that's a call you can't miss as a ref. The devils have a right to be upset with how that period ended up.

refs miss those fairly often. it'll be too bad if devils fans claim the refs lost them the cup when it was actually Bernier's dumb ass.

I'm sorry Devils fans, but he deserved that 5. Is there a case for a missed call? Sure. But there is only one course of action the Devils can take in response to that missed call:

Deal with it.

Apparently one of Brown's goals was switched to Carter. I though I saw his stick interfere with the puck there.

Seems like every year the refs taint the game. That was only true in 2007 and part of 09. Yes LA has gotten some breaks, but Bernier was plain stupid and deserved every bit of that penalty. Watching Brodeur finally unravel and the team now is just so beautiful.

NAIL EM KINGS, GO CARTER!

I did catch that in your post, and my apologies for not pointing that out. Yes, the ref missed the call. How many times have we seen them screw up. Yes, if he called it...that hit probably doesn't happen. But the call was missed. If I'm a Devils' fan, I'm upset at the missed call. But I'd be MORE p***ed beyond words at how Bernier responded. Not to mention upset at how the entire team is responding, which is with nothing but panic.

Pretty wonky series of accidents this game has been. It almost looked like the linesman was trying to get in the way

And the defense not showing up for the first period. And Brodeur. And not taking advantage of opportunities in Games 1 and 2.

It's easy to blame the refs but New Jersey should look inside.
