Prendegast was also the reason RNH wasn't on the WJ Team Canada in 2010/11 as a 17-year-old.

Dumba can do more though.
I agree with both of these comments

Was Schremp ever ranked top 5 any time close to the draft? Even mid-season rankings?

Couldnt find that anywhere, TSN's final ranking had him at 15. I'm not a betting man, but I would wager big money that Murray won't be ranked anywhere with a 2nd digit.

Are we seriously comparing Murray to Schremp?

Not comparing. Just saying that Murray is overhyped. He isn't even the best defensemen in the draft.

Oh for sure totally agree.

Yakupov has consistently been ranked #1. Murray has been all over the place based on what list you read. Craig Button (haha) ranks Murray consistently in the 9-12 range. McKenzie had Murray in 3rd with Dumba in the mix. The D make an interesting debate, but Yak is clearly BPA.

We've been aware of it for a loooong time just like we all know about Nathan McKinnon (sp).

Ok murray isnt anything like schremp, nothing hotdog like about this kid..
But in the top five I only see one player who has that passion..drive, stuff you can't teach and your parents can't parent, that pond hockey till 2am type attitude, etc..
And thats Yakupov..if he was Canadien he would be considered the top prospect since Crosby but since hes not from around here people automatically question attitude, loyalty, winner mentality etc..

Yakupov seems extremely grounded, with some cockiness that doesn't come from being the cool, party animal in a group but instead comes from sheer talent and hard work in the gym.
That's the kind of cockyness this team needs..
Reinhart can't even bring himself to go to the gym, he wasn't that physical until coach asked him to be
You think Yakupovs work ethic has ever been questioned? Combine that with talent and we have a winner.
Draft Yakupov.

Prendergast is an idiot.

He'd probably be able to get talked into talking Brule over Crosby in the 2005 draft.

Brule was much more physical than Crosby and was also a prolific scorer in junior..

Does Murray's play at the WC and Reinhart's play in the playoff's boost them? Does it boost either of them into possibly top spot? That's what I want to hear in the final reports, specifically McKenzie's report.

Murray barely even played in the WC, and I doubt Reinhart even gets selected in the top 5. If the Oil take either number one, I will be seriously pissed.

"I want to be first, but I can't say anything for now," Yakupov said when asked about the possibility of being drafted by the Oilers.
When I heard that, I wondered if it was poor English, or him slipping that he's been told he's #1 and to shut up about it.

Desperate reach for clues? I think so.

Nahh I wouldnt read much into that..
Wonder how much Katz puts into who gets drafted, if I owned this team I would for sure want this type of character on my team..theres plenty of Murray typr defencemen already in the leagur, Yakupov has marketing written all over him

It's poor English. He means to say that he wants to be #1 but that he has no say in where he gets drafted (or which team he plays on).

Peckham? Do you mean Whitney?

Anyone else notice Yakupov call the NHL one of the top leagues instead of the top league or how he doesn't seem to care about who he plays for?

Ok... I'm done adding fuel to the fire of all the people freaking out...

Well, in his media interview today, he called the NHL "the best league in the world."

He also essentially said: "I'm not Russian" - thus pissing off most Russian hockey fans in an attempt to refute speculation that he would play in the KHL... sounds like someone who intends to rush back to Russia after the draft to play hockey...
