Bruins outgoing UFA

Has anyone heard any updates on contract extensions for Campbell, Kelly, Zanon, Mottau and RFA Pouliot?

Seems eerily quiet....

Nope, and the only thing I care about right now (in this group) is that they're not bringing back Corvo.

I'd like to see all but Mottau brought back, although Pouliot might be tough to fit in.

Chiarelli said not long ago that he was working to re-sign Kelly and Campbell. He said the other UFAs could test the market, but he was not closing the door (other than Corvo, as noted). No specific mention of the RFAs.

the only two i see realistically coming back are kelly and mottau. mottau is old and will take a low contract for the 7th spot. kelly is getting older and is a classy enough guy to skip over a payraise elsewhere to retire a bruin.

pouliot will want a decent raise and years from his last contract as he just had a career year. campbell probably thinks he can be a 3rd line center somewhere in the league for more money.

I'm Praying he Brings back Kelly for a good price.. Would like to see Campbell come back as well but i do think hes replaceable.

What Would you guys think if he were to offer Pouliot Something like 4mil for 2 years? So 2 for 2.

Pouliot might do it, he seems like he liked it here, he hasnt really proven he is a 3Mil player yet either.. so Well see.

Obviously, 3M for Pouliot would be too much, but I'd like to have him signed for ~1,5M/y for 2-3 years.
He didn't get much ice-time, he was scratched at the beginning of the season since he had to make some adjustments because of CJ's system. I think 16+16=32 is pretty decent if you keep all of that in mind.
I see him putting up like 45 points next year which would be decent for a 3rd line guy.

And on the Plus side he developed great chemistry with Peverly and Kelly Towards the end. I'm all for Knight or Caron earning their spot.. But they have to do just that.. Earn it.

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Peverley-Kelly-Caron
Paille-Campbell-Thornton
UFA/Sauve/Bourque

Chara-Boychuk
Seidenberg-Hamilton
Ference-Zanon
McQuaid

Rask
Khudobin

If we can swing this, I'm happy. I'd want Poo back, but I want to see Caron get a full year this year, and I don't like the idea of having one of Pouliot, Caron or Thornton as the 13th forward. Zanon is a perfect 3rd pairing guy and resigning him gives us insurance in case Hamilton falters. This also allows a full year in Provi for guys like Krug, Spooner, and Knight.

Wasn't aware that teams would be able to roll 5 lines next season ... Can't wait to see how that works out

Also, you are out of your mind if you think Zanon will be brought back and McQuaid made the 7th defenceman ... Not gonna happen.

I have always wanted Zanon back but everyone always said he would be too expensive. I think him being paired with Corvo really did not showcase him in the best light.

Nah, just one of UFA/Sauve/Bourque for the 13th forward.

If Zanon is commanding a lot, I'd be willing to trade McQuaid to bring him back. Then just sign a UFA to be the 7th d-man for cheap.

I'd like to see Kelly, Campbell, and Mottau back. I know Mottau isn't more than a 7th/8th guy; but he's local so I'd like to see him stick around!!

I'd take Quaider over Zanon any day of the week.

Me too. Zanon was the weakest link in the playoffs.

Wow, if Chiarelli can find a way to bury Timmy's salary via trade, and utilizes Savard's LTIE, we could potentially roll something like this next season:

FORWARDS
Zach Parise ($7.500m) / David Krejci ($5.250m) / Tyler Seguin ($3.550m)
Milan Lucic ($4.083m) / Patrice Bergeron ($5.000m) / Nathan Horton ($4.000m)
Brad Marchand ($2.500m) / Chris Kelly ($3.000m) / Rich Peverley ($3.250m)
Daniel Paille ($1.300m) / Gregory Campbell ($1.500m) / Shawn Thornton ($1.100m)
Jordan Caron ($1.100m)

DEFENSEMEN
Zdeno Chara ($6.917m) / Johnny Boychuk ($3.367m)
Dennis Seidenberg ($3.250m) / Bryan Allen ($3.250m)
Andrew Ference ($2.250m) / Adam McQuaid ($1.567m)
Dougie Hamilton ($1.494m)

GOALTENDERS
Tuukka Rask ($3.500m)
Anton Khudobin ($0.875m)

BUYOUTS
Patrick Eaves ($0.258m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,860,833; BONUSES: $3,062,500
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $439,167

Mottau would be an ideal 7th dman. He was pretty solid out there 10X more so than the defensive mess that was Zanon.

+ I don't see Zanon wanting to be a 7th dman.

You kind of have to ... He said he's coming back. How long he lasts remains to be seen, but for planning purposes, he and his cap hit will be starting the season.

I can see and respect that. His salary is gonna be there so u may as well plan for him to be back. But for the actual whose on the ice.. I don't count on Horton being back. Even if he is, hes gonna be way off pace for awhile

That would be a terrific outcome. You have created a powerful line-up.

My only change would be to keep Pouliot and let Caron play in Providence, if it could be done under the cap.

Minor irritation: I'm sick of looking at the Patick Eaves buyout.

If HAMILTON proves ready for prime time, I'd consider dealing one of FERENCE or BOYCHUK to make room.

I would definitely bring Mottau back. Best case scenario he's either #8 and scratched or in Providence. But he provides insurance better than the current Providence options.
