Imo, when Suter and Carle sign somewhere else we will likely look to JayBo.

Dags seems to be one piece that quite a few people are willing to part with. The price is obviously more than just Dags but the amount needing to be added is at least less than if JayBo were on a decent contract. I read that Calgary is interested in Rattie...but I don't think we should be sending him out of STL in this deal.

If I am making a splash, I am going after Yandle

I do agree that Yandle is much more appealing than JayBo...but is he THAT much better to account for the increased cost that it will take to acquire him? I've been under the impression that we would get more for our trade pieces by getting JayBo than Yandle due to the much larger cost a Yandle trade would require.

I don't think that's enough to pry Yandle out of Phoenix. If that is a trade possibility, I sincerely hope Army pulls the trigger. They would want a more proven commodity in a prospect. Schwartz or Tarasenko would have to go the other way for Phoenix to be interested in my opinion. I would deal Schwartz, Stewart, and a mid round pick for Yandle. I still don't think that would be enough honestly. Yandle's a great player, and Phoenix knows that. Would love to have him wear the 'Note.

I still think the Blues go after M. Staal.

Yandle is exactly what we need. Tarasenko is untouchable. I would have to think harder if I include Schwartz. I would try this first:

Stewart + Rattie + 1st rounder (or another prospect not named Schwartz) for Yandle

Again, if they would accept that, I wouldn't think twice about it. His contract is very reasonable at only 5.25 cap hit for the next 4 seasons. It's likely a pipe dream though if we don't overpay.

I'm a little nervous about Marc Staal now. With all of his brothers in Carolina (the youngest one plays for the Cane's farm team) I can see him going to play there as well once this contract expires.

I'd stay away from Staal from the Rangers with that nasty concussion that knocked him out of action for quite some time.

Here are my thoughts going from here.

Carle - everyone who strikes out on Suter will go after Carle driving his price way beyond what would be reasonable for the Blues.

Kubina - he's so-so.

Rozsival - he hasn't really been discussed as he's a righty but he's a very solid d-man and won't cost what he used to. He did very well in PHX and Amry even talked of possibly signing a righly and moving Petro to the left side. If either Petro or Rozsival would be comfortable playing on the left side (agasinst the opposing teams' top lines) then he'd be a good option.

Colaiacovo - last ditch UFA option.

That leaves the trade option. Every player has a different price and different teams are looking for different things but just about anyone like Jay-Bo, Yandle, Orpik, Giordano, etc. would likely cost a top-6 winger and a good prospect IMO - say one of Perron, Stewart, Schwartz along with Cole.

I would really like to fill the 1LD hole without creating other holes but it might have to be done. Heck, if the Blues have to trade a forward, maybe they'd have room to sign Doan then? Just a thought as obviously Doan would have to want to play here (he absolutely wants to stay in PHX and is only considering fielding offers starting on 7/8 depending on the results of the next City of Glendale city council meeting set to determine if they will finalize agreement with Jamison to buy the team) but I'd love someone like Doaner.

The bottom line though is that the Blues have 10 top-9 forwards right now and they have a huge hole at 1st pairing LD. A sacrafice may have to be made.

I don't get the hate for getting Woywitka on a 2-way contract. He's going to be the 7/8 guy...and will be hard-pressed to win a place on the opening day roster barring injury. I'm more than OK with a guy with some NHL experience filling that role.

Woywitka is an upgrade over Huskins IMO, so it's a good deal.

I think an LHD could become available at the trade deadline in Feb. 2013.

Perhaps this is stating the obvious, but if the Blues don't sign Carle or whomever to be Pietro's partner, then re-signing Cola is a possibility. The team would just need to hang on until the trade deadline and address top LHD needs then.

I see no problem starting the season with Cola ( and I'm not a fan of his ), one year contract, 2,5-3 mil. I think we really should make the PO with this team, and maybe trade or two at the deadline.

I really don't want to be part of JayB. I know adding Him would make our team better, but still...

Yandle on the other hand, would be nice. But, the cost might be too much. Schwartz and Tarasenko are definitely of the table!!!!

Jayb not interested.

Yandle, would be interested and I would be okay with Shwartz or Rattie. But I think they would want a more experenced player, and then I would be willing to move Perron but not Oshie.

Should get David Schlemko.

Name value alone makes it a good deal
