Hagelin is a one hit wonder. He is not gonna be any better than he is today.

And Clowe is most likely a one-year rental and will go to whoever pays him the most next off-season. I'd rather see what you can get with a few years of Hagelin (who at least is a good F1) than one year of Clowe.
Not to mention in the original proposal, the Rangers were also giving up their 1st for a 2nd.

Just imagine the implosion on a Kreider for Clowe deal from Rangers fans

I'd take any speedy forward (even a 40pt player) over Clowe right now but I do believe people (mostly Rangers fans) overrate Hagelin.

I wouldn't. I like Hagelin and I'm low on Clowe, but Hagelin will maybe be a good second liner. Probably a good tweener. Clowe is an established top-6 forward that wouldn't look out of place on some team's top lines. He's exactly the type of skilled big body that would be perfect for Richards and Gaborik.

Tbh I wouldn't want to trade Clowe that much...this team lost because we aren't physical enough, and he has great chemistry with Couture. His bad year may deflate his value but I still see him as a near 20-40-60 player, we just need to sign a faster player for the top 6 and trade Douglas Murray IMO cause he's too slow and gets burned a lot, and try to trade for a physical forward. If we traded Boyler and signed Suter I wouldnt be too mad but I'd rather just keep Boyle,

Clowe is not quite as slow as Murray, but he was pretty slow. If we don't trade him, we'll likely end up losing him for nothing next off season.

My deal with Clowe is that out of the top 6 forwards we have he's the most expendable and for some reason this season he tried to be Joe Thornton a bit too much.

What do you guys think about bringing Steve Bernier back? I loved him when he was a Shark, and obviously he didn't develop into the force we thought he would become, but he was very solid in a fourth line role for NJ this postseason. I wouldn't mind bringing him in on a cheap, short-term contract and playing him on the fourth line.

As much as I hate to say it Murray does need to go. I agree with Kurz in this article. I'd also be very surprised and pissed if DW re-signs White. I wouldn't mind if he re-signed Vandermeer though, because I actually liked him. So hopefully our 7 d-men is this next season:

Dan Boyle
Brent Burns
Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Brad Stuart
Jason Demers
Justin Braun

Jim Vandermeer

Mind you those aren't the pairings I expect.

Vandermeer won't and shouldn't be back. He could do so much better. This organization treated him like crap.

I don't usually play this game, but I like that and I like that you have a full roster and over 400k to spare. Ferry's probably gone, but any plug will do in that spot. Don't know if that will get us Nash, but I'd do it.

Trading all three of Clowe, Boyle, & Murray is in the best interest of the long term health of the franchise, IMO. I think even without those three the Sharks still snag one of the lower 4 seeds in the west. That's discounting anything that would come back the other way, too.

Clowe and Boyle are extremely valuable pieces - probably worth more to other teams than they are to the Sharks at this point - and I think the majority of people on the board undervalue Murray a little. I've read cries of despair about the Kings having a ton of cap room to burn on FAs and how WE'RE DOOOOOMED, but if those three are moved the Sharks would have $28M of cap space to cover their replacements and our bottom 6.

I also believe that the likelihood of Suter signing here is actually higher than most think - not to get anyone's hopes up, though. Given what he's said, I don't think he's just going to go to the highest bidder.

Also, no Nash please.

Yes, we want more playoff performers, so let's go out and sign Jiri Hudler!

5 games, 2 goals. That's 2 more than Marleau last year.

I really don't know why a lot of people are putting him in their line-ups. I do not want anything to do with Hudler.

I wonder what role they're gonna give Pavelski. I really hate him on Thornton's wing and really hate that they forced him into that role. It's fine for special teams but spread your talent, man.

I didn't really hate Pavs on Thornton's wing but I do think he will be more useful centering his own line. How about something like Winnik-Pavs-Galiardi. That could be a good checking line plus potential for scoring as well.

Yeah but I'm afraid that after he got the taste of that delicious first line action, he might not want to center the third line. And you know what, screw Couture - why is he getting so much preferential treatment? Let him center the third line.

Yep - I agree with Kurz. I like Murray, and my wife will boycott the team if he's traded, but he's the odd man out for good reason...if it were not for his incredibly slow speed and terrible shot I would say give him a chance for a bounce back year, but he was pretty bad this season even positionally which used to make up for his lack of speed.

Happy about stuart coming back, not sure how I feel about a Demers/Braun line though, would like to see a veteran with each as they both make defensive blunders with some regularity.

Because Couture isn't as good defensively and hasn't shown the ability to play well with lesser players. Pavelski has.

Agreed, maybe if we took out 31st overall they'd think about it, but it's still not enough. Clowe is coming off a bad year, Murray is slower than dialup and lost his toughness, Greiss is only a little bit better than Sanford or York.

I am sort of warming up to the idea of getting Nash, but the Sharks do not have the young talent Columbus wants. I think we should work out a three-way-deal that involves a team that has a good future and isn't far from a contender.
