oh god.

I don't think I've wanted anything for the Raptors as much as I've wanted this since... I dunno. Probably the VC extension back when he still gave a damn. If there's a perfect fit for this team at the point to replace Calderon, it's Lowry.

My concern is that would adding him and still having Calderon for at least part of the season potentially mean they move away from re-signing Bayless? I hope not. I'd much rather they try to extort some value out of a team like the Lakers for Calderon and use a Lowry/Bayless PG tandem. Or even keep all 3 for now and play a small backcourt of Bayless/Lowry coming off the bench.

You can't keep Calderon if you trade for Lowry.

Part of the reason Lowry doesn't want to play for McHale is because he was being rotated with Dragic I believe.

If you trade for Lowry, he just became your full time starter.

Trade Davis + Calderon for an upgrade at PF behind Bargs. Re-Sign Bayless. Sign a good quality SG from free agency to rotate with DeRozan. Draft a guy like Miller at SF.

Toronto Raptors brass ‘excited’ about impending arrival of Jonas Valanciunas

http://www.thestar.com/sports/basket...as-valanciunas

Quote:
It is going to be difficult for the Raptors to lower the excitement level of fans about the impending arrival of NBA rookie Jonas Valanciunas when team officials seem to be having a hard time doing it themselves.

Senior executive Ed Stefanski, who along with president Bryan Colangelo and coach Dwane Casey saw Valanciunas play for Lithuania against Great Britain on Saturday in Houston, fairly gushed when he was asked about their young seven-footer.
Quote:
Stefanski admitted the team has had offers for the No. 8 selection but nothing — yet — that will lead them to move the pick.

“Thursday’s a long way away but we’re holding onto that pick,” he said Monday. “But we’re exploring every option.”

I'd almost rather have Lowry than Nash. Nash will only have a couple of years of effectiveness. Lowry could be with the team long-term.

How does trading down from 8 to 16 and picking Lowry sound?

How does it feel with the possibility that we could be picking Jeremy Lamb with the pick?

Quote:

If Jeremy Lamb doesn't go 8 to Toronto as some expect, there are rumors that he could really slide on draft night. Teams apparently are more than just a little bit worried about his shoulder, which David Aldridge first reported on. The injury that doctors have flagged is to his right shooting shoulder and there is concern that it could recur during his career. One team we spoke with said they felt he could slide right out of the lottery and into the teens. We consider Lamb to be the SG prospect with the most long term potential. But this shoulder injury combined with his ankle injury and inability to work out for teams before today (Portland) could cost him on draft night.

I'd do it. Like I said earlier, almost anything we get at 16 would be gravy on top getting Lowry. If that's Lamb, fine. If it's Perry Jones, fine. If they go weird and pick Kris Joseph or something even then I won't care.

I will be absolutely ecstatic if we some how pull off 8th pick for 16th and Lowry. I really don't see it happening though. The other rumour is the same package for the Kings 5th pick, which seems more realistic. Another possibility could be the Rockets 14th and 16th for the Raptors 8th which sounds more plausible. Then the Rockets go and trade Lowry + other asset(s) for the Kings 5th. That gives them their two top 10 picks to offer for Dwight.

Last I heard the deals would be something along the lines of Dalembert and the 14th to Sacramento for the 5th, then Lowry and the 16th to Toronto for the 8th. Then they could package those 2 picks to Orlando for Dwight Howard, or pick 2 young cornerstones and try to work out some other additions.

I don't see why the Kings would take that deal. Dalembert has pretty low trade value. An aging center whos career averages are like 7 and 7. He's not even close to Lowry. But if that is what they're saying, I'll take it and run

So it seems Atlanta's new GM is going to 'shake up the roster'.

One or more of Horford, Josh Smith or Joe Johnson could be traded.

Would we be interested in any? What would we be willing to give up?

Bargnani+ picks or assets for Josh Smith? Anyone think that would be a good idea? Not interested in Horford with Jonas coming next year, and Joe Johnson would be interesting, but he's aging and would cost too much. Josh Smith can play PF if we traded Barg for him, or he can even play SF if we pull it off without trading Barg.

I agree that it sounds like a **** deal for the Kings, but that's what ESPN was reporting.

If we can ship Bargs out I'm all for Horford. Dude gets it done in the paint.

Don't want Johnson's contract and I'd need to see a serious attitude change in Smith to bring him over at the price it would cost.

I'd love to have Josh Smith but he won't resign here and he's only got a year left on his contract. Do not want. Horford would be beast though, but he's not worth Bargs.

Don't want Johnson either for reasons you said. He's aging and his contract is an albatross and he hasn't won anything or done anything.

So to sum it up. I don't agree with anything you said lol..

If Horford is available, and the price is right, I'd take him over Bargs in a second.

Horford may have played C, but I think he might be better suited to be a PF. He's listed as 6-10, but I think that's being generous.

When healthy the guy is a monster. Can rebound, defend and lives at the paint.

Both him and Smith are an upgrade over Bargs imo, but I don't think Smith would re-sign.

Still it's moot, because I imagine the price would be far too much for us for either. Especially if we go after Lowry(which I think will happen).

Horford not worth Bargs?!? Are we STILL overrating pasta boy? I'd trade him for Horford in a second. Horford can play the 4 alongside Val.

1. Draft Dion Waiters with 8th pick.
2. Trade Ed Davis+ to Houston for 14th/16th overall pick. Draft Kendall Marshall.
3. Trade 37th overall + 56th overall + Calderon to Memphis for 25th overall. Draft Draymond Green.
4. Sign Steve Nash and Omer Asik in free agency. Re-sign Bayless.

Nash - Bayless - Marshall
Derozan - Waiters - Bayless
Johnson - Klezia - Green
Bargs - Amir
Asik - Val

With Cleveland needing a PF, and if Robinson goes before them, won't it be plausible to trade them Davis + 8th for the 4th overall and draft Kidd-Gilchrist. I know he can't score as much, but we can add-on our strength, which is D.

Valanciunas
Bargnani
Kidd-Gilchrist
DeRozan
Nash

I don't mind this lineup at all.

Seems like they're gaining assets to move up for sure. 14th +18th for our 8th? What does everyone think of that?

I think the talent level is there. If we can come out with Sullinger who is dropping and maybe a guy like Quincy Miller then I'm down.
