ESPN's final (?) mock is out this morning.

It actually has Barnes falling to the Raptors at 8, as the top portion of their 1st round plays out like this

1) NO - Davis
2) CHA - Robinson
3) WSH - Beal
4) CLE - MKG
5) SAC - Drummond
6) POR - Lillard
7) GS - Waiters
8) TOR - Barnes

Also listed is a speculated draft board for the Raptors, ranking their top 5 desired players at #8:

1) Waiters
2) Barnes
3) Lillard
4) Rivers
5) Lamb

In other news, ex-Raptor Anthony Parker retired today.

I'd be ecstatic to get Barnes, the addition of Barnes, Jval & Nash, would catapult us back in the playoffs!

Parker was pretty good for us. I think him and Delfino joined around the same time.

Back when we could make the playoffs

Good luck with retirement Parker!

Any chance of getting Dorrell Wright out of GS? I'd love that guy on the Raps. Rotating him and JJ at the 3 would be a good idea, IMO.

Also looking for some sort of update on a possible Kyle Lowry trade or any deal for that matter. The draft is 3.5 hours away and it's total crickets in terms of speculation and rumors. Does this mean the Raps are content holding on to the pick or could it mean a deal is close but nothing is leaking and it will be announced at the draft?

It's possible that they wait to see who's there at 8 and decide. Like if Waiters and Barnes are gone they make a trade.

FWIW, ESPN's mock explores the trade possibilities for each team and notes the following for the Raptors:

Quote:
The Raptors have discussed getting a veteran small forward or point guard here. There has been talk that they would like the Rockets' Kyle Lowry, but they want to keep their salary flexibility going into the summer. They've also explored moving up to No. 5 to get their hands on Waiters or Barnes.
I have a hard time believing that Lowry would **** up their salary flexibility.

we'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

I think Dion Waiters will still be there at 8, I seriously doubt that there is any chance Barnes is still on the board when we pick tho, can't see him slipping past Golden State.

Jerry West, who works in some sort of pseudo-GM director of basketball ops capacity for the Warriors apparently really loves Waiters and would pick him if he and Barnes were both available at 7.

Raps need to come away with either Kyle Lowry or Harrison Barnes tonight. Both players would be perfect fits and BC has to make it happen. Trade a bunch of pieces to get the established player or trade up to get the young stud who should be a top 5 pick.

Lowry might be off the board for us. Apparently Houston is dead-set on getting the #5 and is upping the package they're offering to the Kings to more than just Lowry & 2 of the mid-rounders.

There's no way we can match Sacramento in terms of assets to offer up for Lowry.

Yea I have read something similar to this also. I hear he had some extremely good workouts but I still find it hard to believe that the Warriors pass up on Barnes if he and Waiters are still on the board at 7. On the other hand if it's Lillard or Barnes I think GS takes Damian.

It's really hard to predict the NBA but I think it will shake out pretty much as it is showing on most mock drafts. Meaning we will have our pick of Waiters, Rivers, Lamb or trade right out of the draft. I do how ever see BC utilizing the clear cap the Raptors have and trying to sneak in to any teams having problems moving salary around. Sad thing is I don't really trust BC as his history of trading is not really great.

Thomas Robinson appears to be the preferred target of the Kings, who will wait as long as possible to decide whether to trade the No. 5 pick, Marc Stein and Chad Ford of ESPN.com report. If they do trade it, the Rockets are "in position" to acquire that pick, the report says. Stein and Ford suggest that means the Kings are in line to get even more thanKyle Lowry and a package of first-rounders if the deal is done.

If Robinson falls to them, they may just keep the pick and draft him.

Unless the Bobcats trade their pick, they seem pretty set on Robinson.

Yea rumors have the Cavs moving up to two to select Beal, and the Bobcats getting the 4th (Robinson) + a late 1st or a roster player. The late first makes a lot more sense for the B cats tho.

If the draft goes:

1. Davis
2. Beal
3. MKG
4. Robinson
5. Barnes
6. Lillard
7. Waiters
8. Rivers

That's how I can see it playing out.

MKG will make me so happy.

I hope BC makes a couple of bold moves.

What would it cost to go to 3 if MKG is there?

The NBA draft is fun to watch, I just hate that they trade players after picking them.

Why can't they just trade the pick and let the team that wants the player draft him.

unpredictability, e.g. you don't want to trade for the #3 pick to draft robinson then find out he was taken 2#. a lot of trades are made verbally before hand and if that team does end up getting the player then the trades are made thereafter, if not both teams walk away and look at other options they had.

i feel confident BC will do the right thing, whether it is trading the pick for lowry, if any of the top 3 guys we want are gone, or drafting the player he covets over any trade attainable players available.

If that's how it goes, I'd take Drummond over Rivers
