Hopefully it's a very cheap deal.

I was ready to get rid of McLeod but then he started playing well towards the end of the season. Still not a big fan of his but he has shown that he can be an effective player.

As long as it isn't over a million per, I don't mind this signing.

I have a feeling it will be 1.2 million per year but I hope I'm wrong.

I personally wouldn't hate that, although I would prefer a couple hundred thousand less. Even as a 13th forward, it compares to what most teams have, or even the Avs are used to having in a reliable 13th forward.

I love that Dreger beat Dater to this story by a few minutes on both his twitter and the Post's site. What a joke the Denver Post has become. They do nothing but fluff pieces and re-tweets of someone else's news.

Ahhhhh of course. Well joy. Hopefully this isn't the beginning of a disappointing UFA/RFA period for me.

~1.3 is my guess, similar to the Paille signing in Boston. Except Paille is better.

I'm ok with this, he knows his role, he plays his role well and he demonstrated improvement last season.

Hope this means McClement is on deck and we're actually interested in re-signing UFAs this year.

Yeah a couple hundred thousand isn't too much of a difference so I don't mind if he gets over 1 mil but is he our 13th forward or Kobasew?

The first thing I thought was why is Dreger breaking the news and not Dater.

Alright, I like your attitude. I'll just keep telling myself there is a silver lining here.

Dreger saying $3.5 M total. That's $1,166,666 per. About right I'd say.

Beats Dater again.

We are almost certainly not signing an impact forward now (which I'm perfectly fine with). Between this signing, hejduk signing and rumors of jones resigning. As long as we resign all of our RFAs, which we will likely do, we don't have much room.

Hejduk-Duchene-Mueller
McGinn-Stastny-Jones
Landeskog-O'Reilly-Downie
McLeod-blank-Kobasew
Olver

Not even sure we will re-sign Mueller now since Olver might be the guy taking his place. I would absolutely hate for that to happen though.

Little odd that they resign McLeod before EJ, Duchene or Radar.

Looks like they are taking the UFA first, RFA later approach.
