I've been asking this since the Panthers series. I've never gotten an answer.
Were it me, I'd have dropped Kovy to the 3rd line, spead out the offense, and keep his minutes a manageable 17-18 per game. Guess that's why I'm not an NHL Coach.
You're finally coming around.
Only other thing you should have noted is that is doubly moronic to put an injured player on the same line as your other all-star forward. It's not exactly helping Parise any that he is playing with 1.5 linemates instead of 2.
Fayne has FIVE shot attempts this game. 3 missed shots, 2 fans
Someone remind me why it was a bad idea to suggest sitting Fayne for either Larsson or Tallinder?
Because Fayne's a defenseman that's good DEFENSIVELY? Has Fayne been made to look bad (defensively) even once this postseason? Yeah his inability to keep the puck in the offensive zone is maddening but Larsson and Tallinder really isn't the answer to anything in this series.
Come on guys stop blaming everybody. This is a great team, and I know we're frustrated. I know I may have started this by saying I want Parise gone. My biggest gripe with Pete at this point is giving Kovy so many minutes this season which has caused him to die for the Finals.
We don't know what caused it to happen to him, but we can't play goons who can't play more than 4-8 minutes next year. We can't play him 25 minutes a night. I don't care what you say about Parise. Kovy is the heartbeat of our team for the most part. Where he goes so does the team. When he's dead out there the team as a whole is pretty dead. I love Parise as much as a lot of you, but not for that huge cap hit. He had a chance in the Finals, and choked. Was a non factor. I don't want him gone, but for some ridiculous cap hit GTFO.
"Devils just trap trap trap trap. Sure it's a modified trap different than LeMaire's but even with two forecheckers they have the defense sitting back with the third guy clogging up the middle of the ice." - explanation of how the Devils still employ the trap
