I appreciate Brodeur every hockey game I watch but it is nice to see a thread doing the same. The man is a legend and, unfortunately, will only truly be appreciated when he is no longer playing. Here's to the greatest.

He is the only reason I became a Devils fan. There really is not a more fun player to watch. Absolutely unbelievable athlete. I am a Devil fan because of him, and a goalie because of him as well. Thank you Marty for so many years of awesomeness.

Epic playoffs by a 40 year old Marty. Blown by ZERO goal support. ZERO.

Marty really deserves the Conn Smythe. Without him, these team doesn't make the playoffs.

I would have loved to see him win a Cup. Can't say we have a strong defensive system or a trap. Our best defensive system is limiting the other team to fewer shots on goal than 28 other teams in the league this season on average as only St Louis had fewer shots against. I credit the forechecking cycle with this, and not the trap.

Brodeur, at the age of 40, seems to be our only star who braught his A-game to the finals and that's pathetic but at the same time, just proves how good the guy is.

Marty is the heartbeat to this team and like the experts say, he's the straw that stirs our drink, not Parise. Marty comes up big in big games and has done so his entire career.

I hope they do some kind of ****ing parade in St-Leonard when he hangs them up. I'll be front and center if they do.

This guy is a living legend and is the best goaltender to ever play the game, period.

just when I think he is winding down and has bottomed out, he goes and does something like this…and COMPLETELY REDEEMS HIMSELF!

in all seriousness, marty is the man. I have a new level of respect for him and lou for what they did this year. win or lose, im so damn proud of this team, and especially of the man betwixt the pipes. thanks marty, for everything.

You can tell who are real fans, and who just cashed in their Devil fan cards only in the last few years.

I remember the glory days when he carried this team. They're long gone, but I still remember. I still love him. He gives his all. Which is so much more than what other players, like Parise, do.

He's never invisible. He's always been the backbone of this foundation. If you have bad things to say about Marty, you're not really a fan of this team, just a pretender.

Neither do the Kings without Quick.

I'm a Devils fan because of Marty too. I am thankful for that. Someday we will all tell our kids that we saw the greatest goalie ever play.

I have to say Terreri was my favorite player as a kid, and I remember being annoyed when this "french-speaking little twerp" "stole" his job. But I guess he's won me over. It'll be so weird watching Devils hockey without him when the day comes.

Brodeur deserves the appreciation, along with Kovalchuk and the 4th line. Nobody else

Brodeur has been great for a 40 year in these playoffs. He has plenty left for next year and I don't think he will be retiring. He might sign on for another 2 years or so. The 4th line, Brodeur & Kovy deserve some appreciation as well. Without the 4th line, the Panthers would have eliminated us.

Marty ****ing Brodeur. I think we've all taken you for granted at some point over the course of these last 20 years. You are without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest players to ever play this game and to do it while wearing our logo for the entirety of your career is incredibly special. You haven't faltered, and at the youthful age of 40, you have been our MVP in the Stanley Cup Finals (really a one horse race in that category, but it all means the same).

You are the greatest goalie to ever put on the pads (and I don't care if anyone disagrees, it's my post SO BACK OFF) and I am truly grateful for all you have done for my favorite team and even more grateful to have had the pleasure of meeting you in person. You were even good enough at your book signing to take a picture with me when not allowed because my camera died when I got to the table. Something I'll never forget.

God bless you Marty, I hope you play for us forever.

That's what made watching last night's 3rd period unravelling so tough to watch. MB has played great, the majority of the rest of the team just can't find another gear. He elevated his game to another level at the age of 40. Lots of people wrote him off, but he clearly proved his doubters wrong.

Even though they are probably going to lose in the end it is great seeing Marty play like this. He got too much blame for some of the past early round exits (07 and 10 come to mind)
