im guessing the main board isn't showing Marty any love? Cause he's been the best goalie of the Stanley Cup series.

Some of them are torching Marty, at some point you can't keep up defending him and you can't do anything but let the idiots convince themselves of their certitude.

Wait what? Both have been absolutely incredible. You must be kidding. He deserves nothing but praise. It`s sad that the media focuses on Quick only.

Most of them are stat watchers. They see the SV% from yesterday and assume that Marty was the reason for the loss.

Since ASB all the way to present Marty is operating at roughly a 921 save percentage, and 2.05 GAA. If he put that up for an entire season he would likely be a Vezina Trophy candidate as those numbers are actually better than some years he's actually won a Vezina.

I wouldn't be a Devils fan if not for Marty. Seeing him at the top of his game in this series is bittersweet, but it makes it all worth it. It's like vindication at this stage of his career. Everyone said his best days were behind him, and he came out said "what 'best days' are you talking about?"

You could tell he wants the win. He didn't come all this way to get swept by the Kings.

Marty is the #1 reason I got into the devils a long time ago. I'm going to cry like a baby when he hangs 'em up. I will probably lock myself in the bathroom for days.

Anyways, he's been incredible in this entire run. I truly believed he had this in him and it's been great to watch. Man a 4th cup would be nice, but he's here and playing well.

Not this year. There are several guys with better numbers this year. Even if he kept that up all season, I think the Vezina candidates would remain the same.

Perhaps not. Lundqvist, and Quick are out of reach, but Rinne was the other I believe. I think Marty could have taken that spot. Rinne had a 923, and 2.38 GAA, but had quite a few more wins than the other guys. It's all hypothetical though.

Brodeur's numbers in 2012/2013. I'm going with 917 save percentage maybe 914 at the lowest, and 2.25 GAA. Of course this all depends on if he's completely healthy. Not even gonna predict wins, because who knows how many games he starts? He probably would have started maybe 4 or 5 more this season. The three weeks out in October, and the game against St Louis he was supposed to play. Not sure if that was cause his ankle getting jammed up in the Rangers game, or that family issue with his father undergoing brain surgery I believe it was.

I think he will be serviceable, but just as inconsistent next season. He's been excellent in the playoffs this season, but I don't expect him to keep it up indefinitely.

We got Marty out here playing for the Bad News Bears. I don't think I see Walter Matthau behind the bench though.

Marty stops 21 of 22 in a win and the 1 that went in never should have happened if not for a phantom penalty late in the game.

That storyline has been written way too many times this year. At least 4 or 5 times now he had a shutout ruined by someone in stripes.

Lou should petition the league for Marty to get a shutout for tonight

If I had to guess, I'd say Marty led the league in 1 GA games, or was somewhere close.

So many shutouts that stopped being so in 3rd periods were had this season.

There were also games like the Nilsson shutout against the Islanders. He made plenty of good saves to keep us in the game. There was a horrible breakdown that caused Kyle Okposo I think it was to score a point blank rocket.

There were many games back when we were having defensive breakdowns a few times a game and couldn't clear the zone, and there was always at least one unstoppable one he couldn't save.

My most unfavorite was the HORRIBLE game last one before ASB against Buffalo. The Sabres had lost 12 straight or something on the road, and Ryan Miller was dead for about two months there, and he comes back, and steals the game, and wins in the shootout. Not to mention Buffalo's only goal was a complete fluke that came off the glass, and right at the shooters feet in front of the net. Flukiest goal of the season. Ryan Miller decided to come back from the dead that night. For the most part he was playing good for the remainder of the season. Didn't Marty have like 6 games in a row where he allowed 1 goal or less this season? One included the loss when Nilsson shut us out.

Quick has been better honestly. He outdueled Marty in both OTs though Marty played amazing in the game 2 OT. But Quick has been just slightly better than Marty, which is pretty amazing given the 14 year difference.

Millbury said the Kings didn't challenge us enough tonight with their 22 shots on goal! This isn't the Coyotes. We don't give up 40 shots a night. How about the 4 breakaway/partial breakaways Marty stopped?

This is a comment I read on the TG blog comments yesterday. This guy is my hero.

''You know all of this Marty is better stuff really makes no sense. Last night he gave up 4 goals on 20 shots. I have been watching hockey since 1960 when 35 to 40 shots per game were normal. If he played in the era he would not even be a starting goaltender. Because with that average he would be giing up 7 to 8 goals per game''

LOL REALLY? How about when he only gave up 2 goals on 35 shots against the Rangers in game 6? Or 2 goals on like 43 shots against Florida in game 6? How about the first two games where he only gave up 2 goals on like 25 shots? And I wonder why this guy picks now to bring that up! Marty gave up 5 goals on 23 shots against Toronto in 01 in a playoff game once. You can't blame him with how bad the team broke down in game 3 on the PK!
