He's been excellent. The only game I'd fault him on at all is Game 3 of this series, and even then he doesn't deserve all the blame.

nah he played good in game 3. just the devils werent helping him at all. allowing people to stand in front of him and not clearing it and all the giveaways is why they scored so much. cant fault brodeur for that game at all. it was the teams fault.

Petey and Co. always let people set up in front of Marty. It's a tactic I'm guessing, where they hope to block or get to the puck and they can catch them with numbers or something.

Whatever the logic, Pete doesn't clear the screening guy unless the plays 4 feet from him.

It also helps that the Devils aren't giving up 40+ shots a game like Phoenix. Quick has made some impressive saves. Last night having some good ones, and last night was probably the game we challenged him the most.
true, shots have been about the same. but i meant quality shots. quick had to make some great saves last game but brodeurs been making saves like that all series. so quick is learning from the master lol. but the student will never be as good as the teacher in this case.

Doughty's goal last night only happened because Brown was camped out in the crease. No idea why that is allowed to continue.

Doughty's goal happened because Brodeur, with his new long pads, got the blade of his goal stick stuck under the "thigh protectors" (aka the 5-hole shield) as he was sliding across. It kept his left pad off the ice and his 5-hole open.

His GAA, and save percentage this playoffs are identical to his number after all star break to the end of the regular season. 2.05 GAA, and a 921 save percentage. The most consistent numbers he's had in years. He's 30-20 with 4 shutouts too since then, and that includes regular season post ASB games, and the playoffs. 2 of those losses are also regular season OTL losses. That's very solid especially the horrid 894, 2.77 GAA, and 0 shutouts pre ASB.

He's putting on a performance for the ages here. It's not 03 or 95, and he may not win, but it's good to see. Game 3 I don't fault him on the goals. It's like game 3 vs Florida when the team broke down, and forgot how to kill penalties. I don't really blame them with Florida who had a solid PP, but LA's PP goal percentage this playoffs has went up 50% in the last two games from 6 to 9 I believe it is. :Game 3 wasn't a brighter moment, but I don't blame him there. He made a couple big ones, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the awful PK, and made him leave the building with an abysmal 810 save percentage. Probably his worst save percentage of the playoffs aside from game 3 vs Florida. He was considered done by NHL fans, and our own fans alike.

I'm gonna blame the goal on a phantom boarding call

It sucks our PK is kinda upsetting me, and making BAD HORRIBLE downright ugly PP unit's like LA, and the Rangers look REALLY good. Though that was a penalty we shouldn't have even had to kill right there.

Extra stat time.

Marty has held the Kings scoreless in 7 of 14 periods, 3 of which were the first periods of games 2-4 in this series.

In conclusion, I'm going to get myself banned if we lose this series and I find a single "Marty didn't give us enough of a chance to win" post.

Ya the team really let him down in Game 3, Marty is the last to blame. He is doing his best to keep us in this thing, but if we are to keep the season alive he is going to have to maybe steal another one tonight.

Volch in particular tends to run opposing forwards straight into Marty.

If we do this, he better win the Smythe.

I'm still bitter over '03.

Marty is dialed in right now. I hope he can keep it up for two more games and carry us to the Promised Land.

I remember seeing "Sit Marty" threads at the beginning of the year. Glad things changed.
