A-Rod is still productive but losing his .800 OPS and replacing him with a guy like Rolen or Headley or Wigginton would not be the end of the world.

The silver lining will also be getting Granderson into the cleanup spot where he belongs and move Suzuki into the leadoff or two hole.

For now:

Suzuki
Jeter
Cano
Granderson
Texeira
Swisher
Chavez
Jones/Ibanez
Martin/Stewart

Wayne Gretzky is at the game today in Seattle. Jeter in between innings went over to shake Gretzky's hand.

Nix and Martin with two huge clutch hits. If the Yankees can close out this nightmare road trip 3-5 they should be ok for Boston.

Good that they gave him some run support before he took the hill.

7 K's and 2-2 for Harvey through 3.5 innings. Pretty solid debut thus far.

10 K's through five though the pitch count is getting up there. Sensational debut though nonetheless.

No Gee? I think he'll be the 5th starter with Wheeler starting in AAA.

Harvey has all the stuff. Gotta get some more command of his heater. It's live, which is good, but the next thing is getting it where he wants it to go. He'll be a very effective pitcher up in the zone having that devastating hook he has. Will keep batters on their toes going forward. Slider is okay, but I didn't see as much as it has been talked up. Maybe it was a little bit off tonight.

Wheeler is supposed to be better than Harvey. That's a scary thought.

That's was fun. Harvey had filthy stuff. You had major league hitters have a hard time catching with his fastball. Then he'd paint the balck on the outside corner, or drop off a nasty slider or curve. I didn't see a pitcher who was too in love with his fastball. Plus, I love his demeanor. The kid is intense and wants to be great. Harvey, Wheeller and Niese is a nice trio to anchor a pitching staff for the next 5-7 years.

The only knock on Harvey is that he can be wild at times. Filthy stuff. Kid is legit though. Wheeler also has higher upside. Pretty darn good 1-2 to build your pitching staff around.

Harvey had great command of his pitches, but what stood out to me was that his four-seamer stayed up in the zone. He made only a couple of mistakes with his curve but got away with it.

That's one thing Phil Hughes and Joba never learned -- if you're going to make a mistake, make it up and away or down and in.

When you make a mistake middle in, it doesnt matter how hard you throw...MLB hitter will smoke you.

Also, if you can locate a 90-plus slider, then follow that up with a 10-6 or a change, you will have a long career.

And the best part -- extremely quick worker. His teammates will love him. That eliminates any chance that he pitches for the Red Sox.
